Reeva Walker was doing what she does every Friday night; laying on her bed staring at the ceiling, wondering why she never goes out. Of course Reeva already knows the answer, but the question still filled her head, it was suffocating. She groaned and sat up on the edge of her bed, now staring at the floor. Why was this something Reeva did every Friday night? Simple. She did not have friends. Although, at times like this it bothered her, she preferred it that way.
No drama, no rumors being spread, no lies, and most importantly, no one to hurt you. Snapping out of her thoughts, Reeva turned her focus to her ukulele on her desk. She had asked for it for Christmas. Most days she would just stare at it, imagining herself as an amazing singer/song writer. Just another one of her fantasies she knew would never happen, yet still believes in. Her grandmother had gotten it for her, excited when Reeva asked for one. When she was younger, Reeva's grandmother was constantly told to follower her singing dream, but never did so.
"And I regret it everyday" Reeva is told by her grandmother. Being reminded of this all the time, Reeva promised her grandmother she would not make the same mistake her grandmother did. Singing was Reeva's dream. It's all she ever wanted in life, everything else seemed pointless. When you have a passion, it becomes the most important thing to you. For the past few months, Reeva has been stressed over not knowing what her future will be. It's a thought that keeps her up at night.
Her room is messy. Clothes scattered across the floor, some clean, some dirty. An unmade bed. School books and unfinished homework lay on the floor, mocking her. She is constantly told that how she does in school will define her for the rest of her life, or at least that's how she understands it. Another thought that keeps her from getting the rest that is most needed. An unfinished essay is mixed in with the unfinished homework. Thinking that she lacks the imagination and creativity it takes to write a small story, it will remain unfinished.
You can always tell how Reeva's mental health is by how messy her room is, but of course, no one pays attention to that. Most people believe that Reeva is a happy girl who loves life and has many friends. This is believed to be true because this is what she leads people think. Her room is the messiest it's been in awhile. Messy room, messy mind.
