In shock, his mother sat up. He knew it'd be his mother. It always was.

"Seunghyun... Are you serious?!" She asked a little loudly. His father rubbed his face, not even quite sure what to think. He was awfully surprised, though. "So you're saying you're gay?" His mother asked exchanging glances between Seunghyun and this boy he'd introduced as his boyfriend.

"Do we have to label it, mother...? I could have fallen for anyone at all. Jiyong is a beautiful individual."

"But with another man, Seunghyun? How can you show love to another man?" She asked. "I want grandchildren, Seunghyun!" She exclaimed.

"It's still possible for us to have children... there's always getting a surrogate mother." Seunghyun told her calmly. "That way they'll still be biologically ours. Children aren't a problem."

"Gender shouldn't determine who you can and can't show love to. Gay isn't a word in my vocabulary. It's a disgusting label. It hurts people. Gets them attacked. If I had to label myself as anything, I'd call myself 'in love'." He explained.

Jiyong let his eyes face his hands in his lap as he closed his eyes; not wanting to see how the situation will turn out.

Taemin just sat there surprised, looking shocked at the two adults. Was that how you should react when your child was in love? When your son went through hard times and finally had found happiness; was that how you've supposed to congratulate someone who has reached their goal?

"Still, Seunghyun. This is just... this is alien."

"Alien, mother? No. What's alien is your reaction. You're honestly being ridiculous and I don't get it. You know what? I love Jiyong. So much. I won't be leaving him because of some terrible input coming from someone who should be supportive of my life decisions." He replied. "And when we get married, which we will, I'll have to ask you not to show up unless you change your mind about this." He sighed. "I just don't get why this is affecting you the way it is. It's me who made the decision. I'm an adult. I know what I want. What I need."

And then his father spoke up. "Don't talk to your mother like that... She's just surprised. I'm surprised, too... just. This is a little much to take in." He explained.
