I woke up with Clay next to me, Night was snuggled up between us. I carefully got up and looked outside. I yawned and stretched, a new day to explore. I looked around, not much to see, only the peaceful silence. I went out to hunt some food for us.
I looked at the ocean, a dark cloud covered the sea. I could see flashes of light come from the clouds, a rough storm was coming. I went to the forest to go hunt, I leapt up into the clear sky and flew over to the forest, I looked down to see something odd.
It looked like something strange, like a beast of some sort. The sky filled with darkness, light struck the ground, wild winds. I fell to the ground. I looked up to see two small griffin chicks get grabbed by a hunter, "You'll make wonderful racers." He laughed.
I saw everything turn black, the blazing fire still set. A beast with blue feathers on its tail, a deer like pattern with patches of white, with green eyes. "A beastly human will try to trick the chicks, you will save them. Protect them as your own chicks, don't let the nasty human take them away to rot."
I opened my eyes to see everyone looking at me. I jumped up in alert, "The chicks!" Everyone jumped back, "Moon what happened? Did you have a nightmare?" Clay cooed softly and nuzzled me. "Yeah, I think so." Clay chuffed and rubbed me.
"I have a surprise, but you need to eat first." They walked outside, everyone had already eaten. I took the doe and ate it. It took me some time but I ate quickly, "Follow me." He took off into the sky without any other words but Follow me.
I followed him closely, he went to the mountains and to a small split between the mountains with a forest a stream. I saw an opening with a house, a human was here. Clay dived down, I dived after him and landed. There was a wall of shrubbery, "Come on." He walked through the bushes.
I stuck my head in to see what was on the other side. I crawled through the bushes and saw something amazing. There was a full grown griffin that looked similar to Clay.
"This is my big sister, she needs some babysitters, and she doesn't want to keep coming back her to watch them, and since you're an owl I thought you could be the night shift." I looked at the large griffin, "My name is Valley. I have heard much about you Moon from Clay."
She chirped and four little griffins ran out from behind her. There was one that was a reddish brown with brown strips along her back and green eyes. Another was a also a reddish brown but it faded to tan along her body, only her head, paws, and tail were reddish brown with yellow eyes.
The other looked like Valley but with yellow eyes and a large white patch of fur on his right eye, back left leg, his chest, and his tail. Then there was one small one, the last chick. She had a snow owl pelt and green eyes, she was small but I knew she would grow to be strong.
Valley told the reddish brown one to walk up to me, "Hi! I'm Autumn!" The faded reddish one came up next, "I'm Sunset, maybe you can tell us how you killed that buffalo!" The one with white spots came up next, "I'm Patch, and I'm the only boy and the oldest, which means I am strongest."
Sunset huffed, "I can be stronger!" Patch laughed, "Ha! You hatched third, which means even Autumn can beat you." Sunset growled, "Whatever! I can beat you right now!" Valley put her paw between them, "That's enough, go ahead sweetheart." The snowy owl one came up to me, "I'm Twilight..." Her voice was quiet.
"You mean Twilight the weakling!" Autumn jumped on Twilight and shoved her into the ground, "Owie! Moooom!" Valley picked up Autumn, "I told you before, stop taunting your sister!" Autumn growled and walked off, I helped Twilight up and Patch licked her on the cheek.
Twilight was like me as a chick. Some of the griffins would say I was weak, but out of all of them, I was the first to hunt real prey and escape the racing track. The strange thing was Autumn and Sunset, they looked exactly like the chicks in my nightmare.
