George's pov

"Hey guys allow him them to break him out, that way we can track them out"

We left the police station for iron heights two hours after interrogating Chris.

"Ok sir" The bunch of police men in the prisoner's transport vehicle answered me uniformly.

Unknown to Chris I had put a tracker with a recording device on him.

Half of the journey was smooth but when we got to the forest leading to Iron heights, I knew it was time.

"Get ready boys" I looked at both sides of the forest.

Don't worry Chris. I will make sure I get kill everybody in your gang myself.

I held my gun more harshly preparing for any attack.
"Guys be prepared, they are likely to attack now" I whispered but it was loud enough for everybody to hear.

I sensed something. What is that sound. I know it!!!!!!!

"Everybody get downnn" I shouted as a loud impact hit the vehicle and knocked it off the road. It was a bomb.

The vehicle somersaulted several times before coming to an abrupt halt.

I opened my eyes.
"Hey guys, are you alright" hoping someone would answer me.

"Yes sir" I breathed with relief.

Chris. I remembered.

Blood was oozing out of my forehead as I struggled to open the already stucked door of the van.

I used my leg on the door several times before it gave way. I rushed to the back of the vehicle and I opened the door.

Shit!shit!!shit!!!

There lies a lifeless Chris with a bullet hole on his forehead.

They were not there to break Chris out, they were there to kill him. My eyes widen with realization.

"How could you let them, huh?" Chief Detective Jay confronted me as soon as I got back to the police station from the hospital.

"They attacked suddenly and I thought they were there to break Chris out" I replied

Chief Detective Jay was visibly angry
"What!!!!you should have been prepared for all possibilities. You are a f*ucking detective for f*ck sake"

All his veins had already turned blue. I've never seen him so angry. I couldn't control it again.

I burst into an uncontrollable laughter.
"God, Jay you look like a bull when you are angry, I've never seen you so angry before" I muttered in between my laughter.

He looked at me like I'm some virus and also joined in the laughter.
"You think this is funny ahn"

"I'm sorry,I couldn't help the laughter. I know I messed up and I really want to catch these guys but I'll do better next time"

"You better, you have to solve this case George, it's very important.....and I look like a bull, you want to know what a ravaging bull is like.. .huh"

He placed his two fore fingers on his head, brought his head down and started moving his left leg back and fort on the floor.

"Here comes the bull!!! Get ready" Chief detective Jay said as he ran towards me.

"Hey stop don't you think you are too old for that, I mean it's been years since you've acted like that" I said positioning my self defensively.

He hit me on the stomach with his head and I felt a sharp pain erupting from inside me. I was still standing but he fell down on the floor laughing holding his head.

"Ow, I thought my head was going to come off....what a stomach you have there, maybe my bone is too old for that"

"Hey, I just arrived from the hospital....you want me to go back there because of your bull's head, it felt like you went through my stomach" I answered still clutching my stomach laughing.

"Oops sorry....hope you guys didn't suffer much injuries"

"No.....and I'm just gonna go, I need to think" I finally said opening the door to his office.

Chief Detective Jay rose up immediately"Hey hey, George George......wait wait"

I stopped and I looked back.
"Don't push yourself okay, it's gonna be alright and take care of yourself"

"Okay thanks"
I said as I closed the door.

******************************************

As soon as George sat down in his office. Lara opened the door forcefully opened the door.

George stood from his seat.
"Hey Lara what are you........."

Lara ran towards him and hugged him not letting him complete what he wanted to say surprised.

"Thank God you are okay....I was worried" Lara said as she hugged George very tightly.

George just continued to look intently at her flustered and loving the feeling of her body against his.

He jolted back to reality.
"Hey you are choking me here.....are you probably here to kill me from not dieing earlier?"

Lara released him suddenly, regretting that she let her feelings overwhelm her instead of using her head.

"Hmmm.....I'm sorry...." She was cracking her head for a suitable excuse.

"For what?" George asked her.

"I was....I was just happy we didn't lose anybody to them....so I hugged you because of that"

"Okay then......I hope you hugged the remaining officers also?" George asked smiling.

Her blush was evident. She quickly turned around to leave George's office.
"Hmm...huh....I will go hug them now"

Lara rushed out of George's office. As she got out of his office, she leaned on the wall beside it and let out a breath of relief.

"Lara you Idiot....why can't you control your own feelings" she exclaimed as she hit her head with her palm.

When she heard that the van conveying Chris had been hit with a bomb, she had been restless, praying that if he would not even love her, he should just be alive for her.

Lara replayed the hug in her head and he couldn't help the smile that formed across her lips.

His scent, his body, his hands, his warmth. Everything is just...
"Perfect" She muttered to herself.

She walked across to her office still smiling.

"And why is a Detective smiling so widely when an investigation can't continue because the suspect has been killed"

Lara turned to see Chief Detective Jay staring at her with a serious expression.

Lara knew she had to find an excuse quickly. She can't let him know that she likes no loves George.

"Hmmm dad.....huh...My pregnant friend just delivered"

"Ohh....but you didn't tell me Vane was pregnant"

"She's another friend of mine"

"You had another friend? I only knew Vane as your friend"

The truth was that Vane was her only friend.
"I just met her a couple of weeks ago....and dad did you think you had a lonely loser as your daughter?"

"No...just saying....anyway get back to work. We wouldn't want to waste the whole day smiling now"

Actually I would. Lara thought.
"Ok dad...take care" She said as she went straight into her office.
