The Journey Begins

POV F/N

We woke up and packed our supplies for the road. We changed back into our normal clothing and it was just as awkward as last night. We ate food per the request of Preston and Ruby. Of course Weiss didn't ask what it was, I got curious and learned it was the deathclaw I killed in Concord. It didn't bother me that much but last night we ate the radroaches and bloatflies, yeah it's probably best Weiss didn't know any of this.

"Alright you ready?" She asked me as I looked at her.

"Yeah." She smiled at my response and turns.

"Then let's say goodbye to everyone and head out." She walks out with a bag on her back as I look at her. I smiled.

"I'll protect you with my life." I exit the building and made my way to Weiss and the rest of the residents. The place looks a little better, they have a radio signal up getting any more settlers to take refuge here.

"Maybe when you two come back we will have more people to greet!" Ruby said.

"And if you come back and aren't dating I might take him for myself." Yang teased causing Weiss to burst in anger.

"I will miss you the least of all!!!" I pat her head which calmed her down.

"Easy Weiss." She looks at me and blushes.

"Before you go here are some flares and a flare gun. It won't mean much now but once the minutemen get settled in again that flare will have any available minutemen rush in and help."

"Alright, now that gives us a reason to get them up and running again." I said as I took the gun and flares.

"Maybe when it's safer we can go with you guys as well." Ruby said in excitement.

"Yeah when it's safer. Let's go F/N." I turned and followed Weiss as we headed out of Sanctuary. As we crossed the bridge Dogmeat blocked our way, "What is it boy?" Weiss said petting him.

"Maybe he wants to come with us." I said as he barked at us excitedly.

"I don't see why not. Having him around to watch your back would make me feel at ease." I look at her as she got embarrassed.

"Don't you mean your back?" I asked.

"Y-yeah! The more protection I have the better right? Hahahaha..." She got up and rubbed her head as I walked past her.

"You're cute when you get flustered." I said as she stopped laughing and got even more red, "Come on let's go you two." I said as Dogmeat ran at me and barked back at Weiss.

"C-coming." We walked for a bit and made it to Concord. We looked at the ruins of the town and the vehicles that rusted over time.

"Our world is gone isn't it?" Weiss said as she looked at a clothing display. I looked closely and noticed it was a ruined wedding dress.

Did she want to...

She continues to speak before I finished my thought, "Do you think we can come back from this?" Dog meat walked up to her and nuzzles at her waist gaining a few pets from her.

"To be honest probably not in our lifetime, but there are people who are alive and living. There is hope for the future." I noticed she touched her stomach for a sec.

"The future." She turns to me and smiles as the wind blew her hair letting it flow like the sea, "Yeah and you promised to always stay by my side." I look at her light blue eyes reflect a slight hint of joy.

"Yeah, always." She begins walking again as Dogmeat follows. I take one last look at the destroyed dress before I followed, "Hey should we look around for anything useful?" I asked.

"Okay, but what will we deem useful?" She said as she walked past the corpses of the raiders we fought a few days ago. I noticed she was following Dogmeat as she didn't look down at all.

"Ammo, weapons, food..." I stopped for a moment as she looked at me with an annoyed glare, "Ammo and weapons." She looks at a nearby building.

"We could use a few more weapons. Though if we don't have enough ammo we should just leave them." She said walking into a building. I stayed out to look through the dead bodies. After I searched for a bit I headed into the building Weiss and Dogmeat entered. Weiss came down the stairs as she had a box full of items. Dogmeat came up to me and handed me a stimpak.

"So what did you find?" Weiss asked.

"A double-barrel shotgun and this makeshift rifle. I found 25 shells for the shotgun and five clips for the rifle." I place the two weapons on the table she stood next to. She looked at the weapons and inspected the rounds. She puts them down and pulls out something from her box.

"Make it seven clips and 35 shells. I also got four stims."

"Five." I place the stim Dogmeat found on the table. I heard Dogmeat bark and we turn towards him. He brought another stim.

"Six. Well you want the makeshift rifle or the hunting rifle?" She pulled out a rifle from her box and placed it on the table.

"Hunting rifle it is." I grab it and hold the rifle in my hand. I load it and aim at a wall, "Yep should do nicely. You need anything?" I asked her as I strapped the weapon to my back. She looks at the box and thinks.

"I found another pistol..." She said holding it up and pointing it at the ceiling.

"Then take my ammo." I said as I began to hand her all my 9mm.

"Nonononono. I don't need them all, just some." I look at her as she looked at me.

"Then two clips?" I hand her the magazines and she takes them.

"Okay anything else?" She asked. We looked at Dogmeat who sat beside me.

"Nope, I think that's it. Let's head out."

We exit the building and made our way through Concord. We took a left and made it to the edge of the town. Weiss took a deep breath clearly as nervous as I am, but I need to be strong for her. I grabbed her hand and she looks at me and blushed.

"Come on we have people depending on us." She smiled at me.

"Right."

(I was going to make this chapter longer but I really liked the way it ended. So short chapter this time around. Next time will be longer don't worry. See you sexy bastards later.)
