We made it to Lexington before night fell. We found a Red Rocket to camp there for the night. Dogmeat was sleeping next to Weiss as I took first watch. I heard the sound of something moving in the distance. I got my rifle ready and looked towards the source of the sound. Nothing happened, but I kept my eyes there waiting for something. I heard shuffling where Weiss and Dogmeat slept. I turned to see Dogmeat getting up, "Hey boy. Mind keeping watch while I go check something?" I asked him. He walked up to me and sat down and nudged me, "Thanks buddy." I said getting up and walking outside. I made my way to the corner and scanned the alley.
"No way it was just nothing. Not in this world." I walked down the alley and made my way to a road. I heard a sound coming from above and looked. Bodies began to fall to the ground from a nearby building. Though to my surprise they began to stand up and growled as if they were beasts. These things were bipedal and human like, but they definitely weren't human at least not anymore. These things are too close to where we are sleeping, though can I take them out without alerting the entire neighborhood? I asked myself.
I aimed my gun at one of them and hoped they walked away. One started stumbling towards my location. I backed into the corner more and aimed my gun at it's head. It was about ten feet from me and I could easily take it out, but is it worth the risk? Who knows what else is nearby. I was able to get a better look at the creature, it definitely used to be human. So this is what happens when humans become irradiated, the ghouls Preston spoke about. It stopped about six feet from me and stood there breathing heavily. Then the sound of gunshots rings in the distance. The ghoul turned away from me and gave a gastly scream and ran off towards the source of the gunshots. I decided to return to our camp, nothing else happened during my watch. Isn't Dogmeat to rest and soon Weiss took over.
I woke up the next morning to Dogmeat nudging me awake, "Hey boy... Nothing going on today?" I asked. I tried to get up but felt a bit of weight on my body, "What?" I looked down and saw Weiss clinging to my chest, she was still asleep. I caressed he soft white hair and laid my head back in the ground, "No danger nearby right boy?" I asked Dogmeat. He just laid down next to me, "Alright get some rest, no harm in staying a bit longer." I said as Dogmeat went to sleep.
Weiss woke up an hour later as the sun began to hit her face, "What time is it?" She asked getting up.
"We should have left an hour ago." I said sitting up.
"Why didn't you wake me?" She asked looking at me with still tired eyes.
"Thought Dogmeat and you could use a bit of rest. Anything happen during your watch?" I asked.
"No, nothing. It was quiet all night." She said.
"Okay..." I said standing up.
"Hey F/N..." She began.
"Yes?" I asked gazing at her light blue eyes.
"N-nothing... Is Dogmeat good to be moving?" She asked. I look at Dogmeat and noticed one eye was open. You sly little shit where you even asleep? I asked as I noticed the one that was closed was the one I was able to see. My suspicions we're confirmed when he got up full of energy.

We continue our path down the road. It was a quiet walk aside from Weiss and Dogmeat spending time together. Couldn't help but smile at them.
"Oh such a cutie." Weiss said to him, "Oh F/N do we still have a baton?" She turned to me.
"Let me check." I said rummaging through my bag. I grabbed a baton and held it in my hand, "Yep." I said. She quickly grabs it from my grasp.
"Thank you!" She said, "Wanna play fetch? Wanna play fetch?" She asked Dogmeat who got excited. She threw the baton down the road and Dogmeat ran to get it, "Go get it Dogmeat!" She screamed excitedly.
