Maggie's POV

It was dark. I couldn't see anything. It scared me. I can walk and move around, I tried to scream but all that came out was a whisper. Anxiety filled me as I ran in a straight line, not stopping till I find some light. I ran and ran and ran but nothing came up. I stopped and dropped on the floor curling myself into a ball. I sobbed, screaming and calling for help, it came out silent. All I remembered was a voice telling me to rest and it all turned black. I don't know how to get out of here, I don't even know where I am. I felt someone touch me, it felt cold and slightly wet. I peeked through to see a girl with a dress that has a see through skirt, a matching blazer, a blue choker and heels with ribbons that tied around her calves. Her hair was smooth and wavy, like the oceans waves crashing on a rocky tide and her skin was a pale blue, like melting ice. She held out her hand and I accepted her offer. I got up and wiped my tears.

"Maggie, it's very nice to finally meet you." The girl bowed. I stared at her quizzically. She looked up and giggled.

"Oh silly me, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Aqua, and I am one of your branches." Aqua introduced.

"Nice to meet you Aqua. But I don't know what you mean by branches."

"Well it's the branches of power of course. I am your water bending in the tree of power."

"You're the reason I have powers?" I asked.

"Well yes, and no" She walks. I followed her.

"You see, all humans have trees of power, but it's very rare to have a branch in those trees. Only less than one percent of the population has powers like you and your mother do." She explained.

"You know my mother?" I asked.

"Well of course, I am you aren't I?" Silence fell between us and it was unnerving. I tried to break the ice by asking:

"Where am I?"

"You're in your mind palace. Where me and the rest of the branches live." I nodded and continued walking.

"How did I get these powers?" I asked with curiosity in my eyes.

"Good question! Powers are gained through genetics. You get them from your mother and father. Each power will be chosen based on how strong that power is. Like for example, your father has the power to control the earth, while your mother had the power to fly, like in normal genetics, the dominant power will be the one mostly shown in the offspring's tree of power. In this case the dominant one is flying, so the offspring will have that power." She explained.

"But wait, my mom has different powers from me. How did I get these?" I asked.

"I'm actually not sure, it's either your ancestors had some of those powers you have or you somehow manage to obtain the branch of Photan." She hypothesized.

"What is that?"

"Well, the branch of Photan basically is like a genie where, instead of three wishes, you get to choose three powers. In your past life, you chose these powers to obtain in your afterlife and those branches will grow when you die in your past self. The latter is more probable since I and the rest are one of the rarest branches." She explained. I just nodded and continued walking. Aqua suddenly stops and turns back. I followed where she was looking and I saw a faint glow come towards us. Aqua walked towards the light and I followed behind. As we got closer, I see the figure in more detail. His hair is in flames and his skin is bright orange. He seems be wearing a slightly torn up shirt and pants, with maroon shoes.

"Aqua! Thank God I found yo- is this Maggie?" The guy asked.

"Yes, Maggie this is Inferno, he is your fire bending branch."
