"He's more myself than I am. Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same."

"Another trip?" I asked him.

"You know this is the only way for us to go on a date," Alex explained.

"For now," I added looking at him sideways.

"Yes, for now," he agreed and reached out to grab my hand. "I just heard about this and I wanted to go there with you and also we haven't seen each other, besides at school, for two weeks".

"Has it really been that long? Hold up in like four days it's our two-month anniversary!" I responded realizing the date. He nodded with a smile and kept on driving.

I had caught the flu from Aurora, forcing me in my bed from Sunday afternoon until Saturday night. From all the puking and sweating I had managed to lose six pounds. I was more bony than usual, and I kinda hated it. I could tell that Alex had noticed it, but he hadn't commented on it.

Around an hour and a half later, we reached a pier where a carnival was taking place. There were a lot of shooting games and a huge Ferris wheel near the edge of the pier. The place was filled with little kids and their parents. Without hesitation Alex reached and grabbed my hand, intertwining our fingers.

"I love this but, are you okay?" I said looking at him as if he had grown another head.

"I'm fine. Actually, I'm great," he told me and gave me a quick kiss on the cheek. What was he up to? "Come on," he said pulling me towards one of the shooting games.

He paid the two girls that were standing behind the booth and he took ahold of the fake gun in front of us. I watched him as he started shooting the little rubber ducklings on the other end of the booth, not missing once. The girls behind the booth laughed and congratulated him, while I was left with my jaw dropped.

"How are you so good at shooting?" I asked him, as he picked a stuffed toy.

"Paintball with Don paid off, I guess," he said with a shrug. "It also helped to have you by my side". At that, I wrinkled my nose. I reached out and grabbed him by the neckline of his shirt.

"Admit it, you just wanted to show off," I teased him, my lips inches away from his.

"Maybe..." he mused with a hazy smile. "Hunter, I..." he didn't get to finish that as some guys behind him cut him off.

"Homos," they said, laughing at us. I gave them a harsh glare, noting how ridiculous they looked with their saggy pants and loose shirts.

Without even saying anything to them, I pushed forward bringing my lips to Alex's. I draped my hands over his shoulders and blatantly I flipped them off. I couldn't look at their expressions, but after he pulled back they were gone.

"It seems I'm not the only one who wants to show off," Alex told me, grinning away like an idiot. I shook my head and pulled him towards the Ferris wheel.

The sun was gone by the time it was our turn, but the lights of the city and the faded music from the carnival was way better. I heard Alex next to me, exhale sharply and he turned to look at me.

"Hunter, I need to tell you something," he started, making me turn to face him. He sounded nervous and confided at the same time. And yet, his expression was one of utter fear.

"Alex, you're scaring me... is everything alright? You know you can tell me anything..." I assured him, reaching out and touching his face with one hand.
