Blake's P.O.V
My best friend, Sapphire, walked into my room and leaned her body against my door frame. Her eyes flickered over to me and she smirked, "You look like a dork."
My lips twitched up into a smile as I gazed at her.
She was currently dressed in an Aerosmith band tee and ripped jeans. Her long brown hair was curly, as it always was. Sapphire also seemed to be sporting some make-up, which complimented her brown eyes.
"You look like a hooker," I told her as I finished buttoning up the last two buttons on my white and blue striped shirt. With a long stride, I reached my chest of drawers. I grabbed my wallet and keys before facing Sapphire again.
"Well, you have to admit, after knowing me all my life, I'm one stylish hooker." she joked with a smile that reached her eyes.
I released a light chuckle before shaking my head at her, "Yes, yes you are."
Her brown eyes rolled at me before speaking, "I think we should take my car to school today." Sapphire hummed as she broke my train of thought.
With a short laugh, I shook my head. "No." was all I said as I grabbed her wrist and dragged her down the hall and into the kitchen.
When I walked in, I noted that my mom was fixing my baby sister, Naomi, some cereal.
"Good morning, Mrs. Dazer," Sapphire spoke to my mom.
"Good morning you two ... Sapphire, did you stay over last night?" My mom asked. "Because it seems that I'm out of chocolate suddenly."
"Ummm, maybe." Sapphire murmured in an innocent tone.
My mother rolled her green eyes before tending to Naomi, who was complaining about there not being enough milk in her cereal.
"Honey, where are my -- well, if it isn't Sapphire Smith, how are you doing today?" My dad asked as he came in the room.
"I'm good Mr. Dazer, you?"
"I'm doing fine and I think I've told you, call me Troy. We're basically family," he said to her with a smirk.
Sapphire nodded and looked at me. I knew that the expression she was giving me meant she was ready to leave. I bobbed my head and told my parents goodbye.
As we walked out the front door, Sapphire started to make her way to her car, but I managed to loop my arm around her thin waist and haul her to my car.
"Why do we always have to take your car?!" She huffed once we were driving down the road.
I looked over at her and couldn't help but grin because she was just so cute with her nose flared in anger and not to mention the way her fists were clenched. I just couldn't help but admire her humorous features when she was angry.
"Oh chill, Sappy-"
"Don't call me that, Blakie." She cut me off using the nickname that I hated.
"You know I don't like it when you call me Blakie." I murmured.
"And you know I don't like to be called Sappy."
"But it's a cute name," I told her.
"It sounds like my mom's name, Savvy. Not that I don't like my overbearing mother, it's just I don't want to be called a name that sounds so similar to hers." Sapphire started to ramble on and on.
It didn't take me long to tune her out and start to think about what school was going to be like today ... Because today was the first day of our senior year. My hopes are that this year would be the best out of the three years I'd attended Marymount High.
"Blake ... Can I ask you a question?" Sapphire inquired as she looked over at me.
"You just did," I noted.
Her brown eyes narrowed at me. "Ha-ha ... No really ... I was wondering if you could take me to Paul's Pizza Cafe tonight at, like, eight?"
"Take your car," I told her.
"I can't. Linx, my annoying twin brother, is borrowing my car tonight. Please, can you take me?" She pleaded.
"Why are you going to Paul's Pizza Cafe?" I quizzed, even though I knew the answer to the question...
Her eyes started to dance around the car, which is something she does when she is about to lie. "I-I ... I'm meeting with Carmen," she untruthfully told me by saying she was going to meet one of her best friends.
"Why are you not telling the truth?" I questioned.
Her lips parted and she released a sigh. "If I tell you the truth, you aren't going to take me."
"You don't know that," I replied.
"Oh, trust me, I do ... Just please, Blake take me tonight," she begged.
"Tell me why you want to go there and I will."
"Promise me?" She asked with eyes that would swoon the coldest of hearts.
An audible sigh happened to escape my lips as my eyes flickered over to her, and then back at the road. "Yeah, promise."
"Okay, so you know that guy, William, the one I've had a crush on since, like, middle school?" I nodded as I knew where this was going, and I didn't like it. "Well, last week he invited me on a date to the pizza cafe."
"Why didn't you tell me about this? What if I've made plans for us tonight? In fact, I have made plans for us tonight ... So, you can't go."
Her eyebrows furrowed. "What?! You just said you could take me if I told you the truth as to why I want to go to Paul's Pizza Cafe."
"I lied."
"No, that's not it. You just don't want to give me a ride to my date. Gosh! I knew you would do this! You always do this!"
"What do you mean?"
"Whenever I have a date you somehow make sure I can't go."
"That is not true," I untruthfully told her.
"Yes. It is."
"Give me one example."
"Just three weeks ago Aaron Weaver asked me out. You called right before I was leaving for the date and told me I had to come over to your house, and help you get your cat out of a tree ... Don't know why I came, because you have no cat..." Sapphire said as I pulled into a parking spot. When I cut off the engine, she looked at me with narrowed eyes. "Why do I get this feeling that you found out about me going on a date tonight and asked Linx to borrow my car so I would have to depend on you? Then, it gives you the opportunity to deny me a ride. Leaving me with no way to get there."
When those words left her mouth, I think my heart skipped a few beats ... She had caught me. "Th-that is not true." I silently cursed at myself for stuttering.
"You are unbelievable." She breathed before storming out of my car.
I sighed and quickly got out too. "Sapphire! Wait!" I called out to her. She twisted around and glared at me.
"Blake I don't want to hear it this time ... But just so you know I'm going on this date tonight whether you give me a ride or not ... Wait, scratch that I don't need you to give me a lift, I'll just ask William to pick me up." With a hard turn of her heel, Sapphire walked away.
Only to leave me there thinking about how over my dead body she was going on that date.
