[Beam]
It was calm the next day. There were no calls, no annoying people and no unnecessary thoughts running through his mind. It was relaxing.
That was, until Pha decided to be an investigator. Why does he suddenly have a lot of free time? Wasn't he always all over N'Yo?
"Beam," he started. Beam looked up from his meal to stare questioningly at his friend. Kit did not even bother. He just continued eating in his normal pace. "What's your deal with Forth?"
It was an unconscious reflex for his hand to twitch nowadays hearing that name, along with his eyebrow. It was normally unnoticeable, but he knew Pha saw that as he was intently looking at his face. He relaxed his now tight hand holding his spoon before starting to eat again.
"Nothing much. Still the same."
"What 'still the same'? This is probably the first time I've ever seen Forth specifically looking for you."
Kit stopped eating for a bit and he stared at him with his eyebrow raising in question.
Beam stopped eating for a second and stared at his friends with a slight frown.
"Just because he asked for me yesterday doesn't mean there is a deal between us. That was only the first time!"
"He asked for you back at the Rag and Flag day though," Kit pointed out. "He even ignored us."
I knew that would come to bite me, he thought in annoyance.
"That time was confidential," he started to say. He can't exactly tell them about the reason Forth came to him that time. He did not want his friends to know of his stupidity.
It's not as if this was the first time he hasn't told them something about his life. As much as he trusts his friends to the point of even considering them as his brothers, he wasn't the type of person to be open about his feelings. And although they know some, it wasn't a lot.
Some of them aren't even that important.
"What confidential?" Kit asked.
"Kit, do you not know the meaning of 'confidential'?" He raised his eyebrow at his friend. Kit scowled at him before taking a spoonful of food. He laughed a little when he saw him sulk. "It also wasn't my secret to tell."
It was the best excuse he could come up with that actually wasn't a lie. As much as possible, he did not want to lie to his friends.
Seeing the obvious gleam in both of his friend's eyes, he decided to give Forth a stern talking to.
He must not tell about it! If he does tell, he might just kick him where it hurts the most. And drop him from his friend's list. Not that he thinks that was important for Forth anyway. After all, despite being seen as friends, at the base of it all, they were really only drinking buddies.
"And the one yesterday wasn't about me. He was asking about Kit."
"Huh?" Kit looked at him confused while Pha looked to be unsurprised. Of course he isn't. His friend is a genius. Although he's clueless sometimes - Beam could still remember the exasperation he felt when his friend did not even recognize Wayo without his glasses. The 'superman' effect is very effective and strong with him - he could work out his brain to deduce something.
It's why he, more often than not, becomes even more careful in Pha's presence when he had something he did not want to talk about.
Kit's nose might not be as sharp as Pha's but when given the opportunity, he's stubborn enough to not let go. Not until he knows and is certain it won't hurt them. The tsundere.
