Natalia's POV

"So, how'd your holidays turn out?" A voice inquired.

"It was amazing like always and—Elena?!" I exclaim, shocked.

I stood there with my mouth open.

"I thought you weren't going to be here for another month since you said you wanted more time with your family," I expressed with doubt. Not that I didn't miss her or anything.

"Well I missed you too," She stated snidely with an amused grin on her face.

I chucked my purse onto the couch and face her again.

"Hey! Of course I missed you, Lena," I replied defensively in a joking way.

"I know, how could you not?" She said as flipped her curled hair over her shoulders dramatically before maneuvering me into a hug.

Good god, why do you do this to me Elena? My stupid emotions were beginning to defeat me. Nope, you need to hold it in Natalia. HOLD IT IN NATALIA! I love you Elena, but you have to get the fuck off me. I'm going to burst. I don't think my body can take any more of this.

I wiped away my running tear rapidly and pulled far from the embrace, making an effort not to seem as though I didn't just cry. After we pulled away from each other, she gasped. Elena looked exceptionally perplexed.

"Aw, Natalia." She bursted our laughing, giving me a short squeeze once more.

"Shut up," I stated.

"Did you really miss me that much? We've been away from each other way longer than this before. Why so emotional, Nat?" She asked, chuckling.

"Yes, there's nothing wrong with missing your best friend," I countered. "Regardless of how long its been."

"Well guess what? I missed you as well and since it's been a long time since we've properly hung out, we're going to a winter party tonight to let loose!" She exclaimed enthusiastically, essentially leaving no room for argument.

Great, she'll get suspicious if I don't drink at all tonight which is the reason she has to know what's been happening to me. Plus, I don't really want to go which is strange for me. I love raving it up once in a while, however I've been really drained lately and don't think it's a good idea to go.

Elena strolled over to her room, hauling her two stuffed bags behind her. "We'll talk more after I shower and change into something more comfortable," She said as I nodded. After her door closed, I stood there and sighed frustratingly.

When she returned an hour later, I was welcomed with her usual aroma of coconut blended with vanilla. Obviously Elena being the persistent individual she was, got straight to the point as though we had no time by any means.

"So tell me what's been going on, and no leaving out a single detail," She said sternly while pointing a finger at me.

Seeing that is she wasn't giving up, there was no reason for arguing since I wanted to tell her anyway and felt awful keeping secrets from her especially since we had fought over it before. I bit my lip and ran fingers through my hair about three times.

But before I could speak, Elena let out a long sigh as I looked up at her.

"Look Natalia, ever since that argument we had before I left, I did realize that I can be a little pushy when it comes to people telling me stuff. Maybe to the point of being nosy, but that's beside the point. My point is that you really don't have to tell me if you don't want to," She said, looking down guiltily.

A smile slowly spreading across my face never failed to show the appreciation for her words. "You deserve to know after all this. Not only because you'll find out anyway, but you're my best friend and I trust you completely with this secret or any secret at all. Just know that this secret has to do with Jackson, so he can't—," I started, but got interrupted.
