Natalia's POV
"Can this house be any more confusing?" I murmur frustratingly to myself, looking from side to side at every door in the hallway. I haven't been in this house long enough to actually know where anything is, so I took a dangerous guess as to what resembled the room Adam had moved me in to.
I sighed in relief when the door creaked open to reveal the familiar dull-looking room. Great, he's not in here. Would've been terrible if he saw me strolling around without anybody with me.
I took one step in the room before feeling a pain in my stomach, making me immediately touch the spot where it hurt with my hand. Fuck, what the hell is happening? Exhaling out slowly, I continued to search around the room as fast as I could for any kind of backpack or bag.
Lifting up a navy blue Jan Sport backpack with my index finger, I smiled. As I turned around, the door burst open. Damien stood there with his hand on the doorknob.
"Hey, are you okay? I'm—what are you doing?" He asked, narrowing his eyes and resting his hands in his jean pockets. I wanted to scream in anger. If one more person asks me that...
"Who are you to ask me that stupid question? I mean really, I'm so damn fed up with you psychos asking me that question." My tone with him was hard but also behind that emotion was betrayal.
His eyes went soft.
"Natalia..." He trailed off, looking guilty.
Probably realizing how he was reacting to my response he cleared his throat before going back to that emotionless gaze he always kept. "Never mind, you're coming with me. The boss wants you in his office. And make sure—"
"Why?" I cut him off, walking closer to him. I really wanted to know why he betrayed us after how good we treated him all these years. There was no giving up until I knew exactly why he was doing this.
"It's nothing that concerns you, Nat. Just drop it," He snapped while his fists clenched inside his pockets.
"Oh my goodness! It's funny how you think that we're on the nick name basis." I gave out a humorless laugh.
"I don't think so. It's Natalia, Jerk." Damien glared back angrily and before I know it, he's standing in front of me. I've never been one to provoke people or become petty as hell but these hormones were going to get me killed if I didn't control them.
"You wanna know so bad, fine," He started, his eyes still narrowed as he leaned closer to me. "You're father killed my mother."
My brows furrowed. What? Dad never told me that.
Why would he trust the kid of the so called woman he killed? I shook my head.
"He wouldn't do that? Why would he hire you if—"
"Let's. Go," He growled lowly while dragging me by the hand.
Damien's steps were quick while I faltered behind his huge body like a lifeless rag doll. I wasn't as shocked as anyone else would be because why would I? My dad used to live in the gang world before he became a business man.
But what was startling was why he ever trusted Damien? My dad doesn't trust very easily as far as I know.
Groaning, I try to yank his tight hold off my hand. "Damien! Let go of me! I refuse to speak, see, or even look at him!" Damien didn't stop or hesitate at my yelling but instead, squeezed harder. I bit my bottom lip from the pain.
