He thought it was going to be ok; that's what everyone told him.
So he tested the waters and dived in.
He thought the water would catch him.
Didn't know that he needed to know how to swim.
As he sank, the water like anchors, he was confused.
They screamed and held out their hands, just out of reach.
None willing enough to jump in and save him.
They cry for him as his finger tips are submerged.
Reaching up for a useless hope.
He's drowning
Down he goes
Drowning
His lungs burn
Drowning
Eyes hurt
Drowning
Heart pounds
Brain on fire
Shaking hands
Cold body
Water against air
Blood against water
One final breath used for a scream
Lifeless corpse
Fish food
They did nothing
That's how life is
They say they'll be there for you, but in the end when it's tested they do nothing.
When you're gone they'll finally care; just for a while then they'll forget you all over again.
There are monsters
They don't live under your bed
Nor in your head.
Take a look in the mirror, love.
They are the ones killing you.
Here's a tip for you.
Learn how to swim.
