Lauren's POV
"Mom! The pizza's here!" I heard Nic shout from downstairs. I was in the process of putting my hair up into a messy bun."Okay! Two seconds!" I looked around my room and grabbed my purse, I quickly rushed out of my room and down the stairs to the front door.
Nic already had the door open. And I rolled my eyes playfully as I pushed him away from the door slowly, "I told you not to open the door."
"She was waiting, Mom. I didn't want to be rude," Nic looked at me in confusion and I rolled my eyes again, smiling softly before looking at the young, 16 or 17 year old pizza girl.
"Hi, how much is it?" I asked politely, flashing a small smile.
"20.53," she said as she smiled back at me, "Cute kid. He's real sweet. A charmer, really."
"Yeah he takes after his father in that department," I said as I dug around in my purse, pulling out $30. I handed it to her, taking the pizza from her arms, "Keep the change."
"Woah! Thanks. This is the biggest tip I've gotten today," she said as she stuffed the money in her back pocket.
"No problem..."
"Sofia. But I like to be called Sofi. Thank you again. You and your son have a good night," she said as she waved at me before turning around and walking to the silver bug with the pizza sign on top of it.
I smiled as I shut the door behind me and walked to the living room where Nic was already sitting on the floor, near the table with two cups and two plates.
"She was nice," Nic said as I sat down on the floor beside him, setting the box down in the middle of the table.
"Yeah she was," I agreed with my son as I looked over at the tv screen whilst simultaneously opening the pizza box, "What are we watching?"
"Spider-Man 2," he answered as he reached out to grab two slices of pizza, placing them on his plate. I grabbed a slice for myself.
Nic and I ate our pizza, watching the movie and making occasional conversation. We spent most of the movie debating who was better Iron Man or Captain America. I firmly believed it was Iron Man whilst my son believed it was Captain America.
This was the time I loved most with my son. When I would just sit with him, eat dinner, and talk with him. It was definitely safe to say Nic was my best friend. He knew me like no one else and I knew him just the same. Which was why I wasn't surprised when towards the end of the movie he spoke up about Camila.
"So, Mom," Nic had said and I turned my head to look at him, smiling slightly in amusement at the tone of voice he had taken on.
"So, Nic," I teased him playfully, causing him to roll his eyes at me in playful annoyance before looking at me seriously.
"You and Miss Cabello seem to be pretty close now. Are you guys friends now?"
"I guess you can say that," I nodded my head at my son. He grinned slightly as he leaned back against the couch.
"Cool. You guys are just one step closer to becoming girlfriends then," Nic said with a grin and I laughed at my son, ruffling his hair.
"Take a step back, nugget. I don't think we're there yet," I said with an amused grin.
"But you will be. I see it, Mom. I just know it."
"Yeah, alright, Nicky. I believe you," I smiled at my son. He just grinned at me as he stood up, stretching his arms over his head and yawning.
"I'm kind of tired now," he stated as I looked at him in slight confusion, "I'm going to go to sleep," he leaned down and kissed my cheek, "Goodnight, Mommy," he said in a childlike voice that brought me back to the days when he was younger and called me that all the time.
