- Kaito's Point of View -

The wind flew right past me, ruffling the bangs of my silver strands of hair. Looking up, I notice that Kaoru is no longer in the position we planned but in the tree across from me. His onyx orbs meet mine and he gives me a reassuring smile before pointing down to our two targets below us.

'We jump in three. I got the big man, you get the smaller one.' I read from his eyes. Sighing softly, I give a nod before he lifts his hands and counts down the numbers on his fingers.

Three...

Two...

One

With the final signal, we jump down silently as and I land swiftly on top of my target, a younger man with strands of black hair falling past his shoulders, a knife in one hand.

I use the back of his shoulders where my feet are and push myself before doing a short backflip and then landing on my feet in front of the man. "Puny child! I'll kill you," he growls at me before charging, the silver of his knife glinting from the sun's rays.

In the last second, I jump as he runs past me, his body losing balance from not hitting his target and he falls to the floor, his face in the dirt.

I glance at Kaoru to see that he's got his target under control and then grab my twin swords from behind my back and stab them into the ground, trapping him by the sleeves of his grey shirt.

"Now, if you hold still, I'm sure this will go a lot faster," I state, grabbing a rope from my pouch and tying his hands behind his back, making sure to knot twice. I grab the back of his shirt and tug his body up, looking at his dirt covered face. He glares at me through his blue orbs and then spits.

My eyebrow twitches in anger as the spit lands on my cheek. Glaring at the man, I wipe the spit off with the palm of my hand before looking at him. "Here, let me return this," I growl before slapping my hand across his cheek, causing his head to turn. A red mark replaces my hand and I look over to Kaoru who has the large man tied up and unconscious.

"Since you're giving me trouble, I'll just put you to sleep," I mutter. I lift my hand and close my fist, leaving my index and middle up before stabbing into the side of his neck where it meets his shoulder. In a second, he's asleep.

"Kaito, did he hurt you in any way?" Kaoru asks, his voice laced with worry. I look over to the black haired male and shake my head, smiling with my eyes closed. He lets out a breath of relief before hauling the man over his shoulder as we drag our targets back to the village.

"Mission success?" one of the gate guards asks, eyeing the man who I was dragging from the nape of the neck. Looking down, I notice that his face was dragging in the dirt. I let out a soft chuckle before hauling him up a bit and giving a smile to Kotetsu. "You know it."

"You two never fail to amaze me," Izumo laughs, ruffling my hair before letting us in.

When we reach the Hokage's Office, I push open the door, revealing one of my favorite old men. When he notices it's me, he sends me a smile and nods for me to come in. I obligee and walk in, tossing the man to the side before dusting my hands of together. Kaoru doesn't hesitate to do the same and then stands next to me, slipping his hand over my shoulder.

"Well done, guys. One C-Ranked mission down, one more to go for this week. How about you two come back tomorrow and then you can do your mission then? Go home and rest," he says, forcing us back out of the door.

My body is exhausted and I find that I can't walk. Before I crumple to the floor, thought, Kaoru lifts me onto his back. I wrap my arms around his neck and sigh in contempt. "The students are graduating tomorrow, oniisan. Doesn't it just bring back so many memories? Daddy took us in when we were so small and then trained us when we asked. What more could we ask for? We're living the life," I mumble into his ear.

"Imoutosan, you know I hate when you do that," he grumbles under his breath before pushing open the door to the house. The lights are all off, so I assume that dad isn't home yet. Just to be sure, I call for him, but no one answers.

Kaoru sets me down before heading off to his room to shower. When he walks away, I sigh. Life is so boring sometimes. Pulling off the black headband from my head, I toss it onto the bed in dad's room, surveying the pictures on the desk.

Picking up one of the frames, I smile. It's a picture of Kaoru, dad and I together. Dad is sitting on the floor, his eye closed in a smile as he gleams at the camera. Right behind him is Kaoru, who has his arms around dad's neck. In the silver-haired man's lap sits a small girl, age eight, a brand-spanking new headband wrapped around her forehead. Me.

Suddenly, I'm lifted off the ground. I let out a squeal and then realize who the culprit is. "Daddy!" I call, wrapping my arms around his neck as he turns me around. "I think you might be a little to old to be calling me that, musume," he laughs, setting me down onto the hard wood floor.

I glare at him in annoyance before pulling him down by his green jacket until he's face to face with me. I grab his headband by the metal and pull it up, showing his closed eye and then proceed to pull his mask down, showing his natural face.

"Daddy, didn't I tell you? Whenever you're in the house, you're my daddy, not Kakashi Hatake, so therefore you need to take off your mask. Who knows, maybe one day I'll punch you because I won't know your true identity," I laugh, placing my hands on my hips.

I puff my cheeks and pout, waiting for him to crack. He glances away, trying to find something else to look at before giving up. "Alright, we'll go for Ichiraku's. Where's that brother of your's at?" He asks, picking me up and carrying me to Kaoru's room.

He pushes open the door before gasping. Before I'm able to look, his gloves hands are slapped over my eyes, blocking my vision. "Hey, Dad!? What the hell!?" I mumble, trying to pry his fingers off. Ignoring me, he begins to yell at Kaoru.

"Kaoru, I know you're getting to that stage where your body does funny things, but seriously? Your sister was in the house with you, you pervert. Do that some other time, not in the house," he scolds, before shutting the door soflty and placing me down.

"Are you gonna tell me what happened or are you just going to stand there like an idiot, daddy?"

"Who is teaching you all these bad words?" He asks, ignoring my question. I raise my eyebrow before flicking his forehead with my index finger. "Asuma-chan," I answer in honesty before picturing the smoking man in my head.

"That idiot. Anyways, go get dressed and get ready for dinner," he commands before turning me to my room. I walk in while grumbling things under my breath before stripping off my clothes. Instead of my normal wear, I slip on a pretty teal colored kimono styled shirt over my red lined mesh armor. I pull on a pair of black socks that don't cover my toes and go up to the middle of my thigh and slip on my blue ninja sandals.

I look in the mirror and frown. As per usual, I wrap white bandage around my right thigh before slipping my ninja pack onto it, just in case.

Once I'm done, I head out the the living room where I see dad sitting. "Don't you look cute?" he asks, raising and eyebrow at my choice of clothing. He notices something and taps on his forehead. I roll my eyes and run back to his room and grab the headband, tying it around my forehead.

Running back out, I notice that Kaoru is done, dressed in a pair of teal capris and a black, high-collared shirt.

"Alright, one simple rule before we head out. If anything happens, don't get involved or try to help."

Well damn.
