"Heyy girlfriend." Ellie laces her fingers through mine and kisses my forehead. She's such a romantic and I love it.
"Hey beautiful, did you miss me"
"More than anything in the world, mi amor."
She pulls my hand and I let her, all the way to the couches behind the shelves. We plop down on a big fluffy one, and Ellie instantly pulls a book out of her backpack and lays on my lap, her light chocolate hair draped across me.
"Uhh, would mind playing with my hair? It comforts me."
How could I resist those puppy dog eyes?
"Of course, love."
And we stay like that, cuddling and reading until I get a call.
"Hello?"
"Jules! Where have you been? I've texting you for the past hour!"
"Mom?"
"Yes!? Where are you?!?"
"I'm just at the library with a friend."
"For the past two hours?!?"
Ellie makes a confused expression looking up at me.
"I'm sorry, gosh. I'll be home soon."
"You better be."
