Chapter 5: New Girl

What a boring first day. Tch, of course it's no different from middle school. It's always the same. Go to school, do your work, study, sleep, repeat. I wish Mom would give me a break for once. I get she doesn't want me to end up like her but I want to make my own choices too. I suddenly hear yelling outside the classroom door. That voice sounds familiar.. is that Juniper? Miss Eiji suddenly gets up and starts yelling at Juniper and another girl. Who in the world is that? I don't even know her and she already looks clueless as hell. Ms. Eiji drags the two girls inside. I can get a better look at the girl standing in front of the class. Straight brown hair and dark brown eyes. Looks like an average village girl. Does she even have any mana in her?
"I'm sending you both to the Headmaster's office. Don't you dare lie to him Ms. Malori." Ms. Eiji says handing the girls a hall pass. Dear Thea, what happened to them? And on the first day too. Out of curiosity, I raise my hand.
"What is it Tadaran?" She says with an annoyed expression.
"May I go to the bathroom?"
"Yea, sure, whatever. Just go with the girls and come back once you're done. Don't slack off."
"Thank you ma'am." I say as I stand up and walk over to the girls. Juniper definitely does not look happy and the average looking girl looks terrified out of her wits. We all start walking through the hallway.
"You're not really going to the bathroom, are you Asahi?" Juniper asked with an annoyed expression.
"Aww, you know me too well. By the way, who's this chick?" I ask looking at her.
"She's not just some chick you dumbass! She's got a name." Juniper said looking at me like I was a roach getting ready to be stepped on.
"Jeez ok. What's your name?" I ask the girl.
"Polaris Sakura." She says as she looks up at me. Damn, she's short.
"I'm Asahi Tadaran. Nice to meet you." I gave her a smile and she smiled back. Maybe she isn't as average looking but still not my type.
"Don't get too comfortable around him Polaris. He likes to play with girls and hurt them even more in the end." Juniper says to Polaris. Jupiter's smile fades and she looks back up at me.
"Is that true?"
Damn it Juniper! I'm trying to change and you keep shooting me down by bringing up the past.
"It's complicated. I'm a changed man. But apparently, some of us can't move on." I glare at Juniper and she glares straight back at me. Hit me I dare you! Huh..?
