It was quiet, a deathly quiet. Too quiet. The kind of quiet that makes your ears ring and you can hear your heart thumping. I hated this type of quiet. It always made me very paranoid.

The kind of quiet meant that something dangerous was lurking, like when you go camping, people tell you not to go outside if it's drop dead silent. A predator was lurking. Tonight, that's the case. There are multiple predators. I was safe up in a small tree house, because they can't climb. Who's they, you ask? The Seekers.

Seekers are monsters. They are human-like creatures with hunched backs. Seekers have claw-like fingers that they use to kill their prey. These things breed and multiply very fast. One day there could be two, then by the end of the week, there will be over 100. These things also don't have visible mouths. You can only see the mouth when they open it. Inside are rows of sharp pointy teeth that could easily bite through bone.

I was sitting in my tree house with a shotgun resting on my lap. I was waiting for a Seeker to show up. It has been silent for an hour now, but still nothing showed up. But, with how quiet it is, I know something was still out there.

~

It was getting dark...But, still, nothing showed up. The quietness rang in my ears and my heart thumped loudly. I went inside so I wouldn't be seen, and sat down on my little cot. I grabbed something to eat and looked out the small window, waiting for something to show up.

RUSTLE

RUSTLE

I shot up and my eyes darted to where the noise was coming from. There was not one, not two, but TEN Seekers. They immediately look up at me. I gasped and ducked down. I-it's too dangerous...The Seekers started to groan and growl loudly.

The groaning and growling got louder and louder, attracting more and more Seekers. Unlike zombies, these things won't go away shortly after they can't see you anymore. No, These things will not go away for weeks, even months. I don't have enough supplies to last for that long.

I gathered the last supplies I had and made a mental note to loot while I was gone. I put my bag on, grabbed my gun and strapped my knife to my waist. I snuck towards the back window. I held my breath.

I jumped. I landed on the ground with a thud. The thud alerted some Seekers. The Seekers ran at me. I quickly unsheathed my knife and killed as many as I could. I soon became outnumbered. "Crap!" I screamed. I began to run as fast as I could. I heard them catching up to me, no matter how fast I ran. I kept my knife clenched in my hand, as I ran through the woods. Suddenly, my foot got caught on a tree root. I fell downhill, getting hurt.

I smacked hard against a tree. My breath left me and my vision started to sway. A Seeker pinned my down. I grunted and tried to reach for a weapon, but they weren't there. I mentally panicked. I'm a goner. The Seeker tried swiping its claws at me. I grabbed its wrist, with a grunt. I looked over to my left and saw the knife and shotgun. I tried to reach for them, but to no avail. The Seeker swiped me with its free hand. I grabbed it, but it sliced my cheek. It stung instantly and I felt a warm liquid drip from it.

The seeker began to struggle to get loose from my grip. I closed my eyes and whispered a prayer.I fought back. I felt my grip loosening gradually. I gritted my teeth and struggled to regain my grip. But, the Seeker was stronger.

Then, I lost my grip. Tears streamed down my cheeks. This is it...I'm gonna die. Then, I felt dust fall on me. The Seeker was killed.
