~In the Science Lab~
There it was. There was the Seeker, knocked out on the table. My eyes widened at it. "Can...Can I-" I was at a loss for words. "Do you want to touch it?" Rose asked. "YES!" I exclaimed before swallowing, "Y-Yes." Everyone chuckled. "Go ahead." John chuckled. I walked up to it cautiously. My heart thudded loud in my ears. I wouldn't be surprised if the others could hear it. I lifted my hand. It shook with anticipation. I took a deep breath and laid my hand gently against the Seeker's chest.
I was shocked at how the Seeker's skin felt. It was smooth and silky-it was almost soft. "Weird, huh?" Rose asked. I nodded and took my hand off of the Seeker. "I've never been this close to a Seeker without it trying to kill me before..." I whispered, walking back to stand by Jackson. "Yeah, it's pretty weird." He mumbled. "What will you do when this thing wakes up?" Andy asked. "We created several tranqs to knock it out." John explained.
"What kind of tests are you gonna do?" I asked. "DNA, tissue samples, blood work-if it has any, and other stuff. We might even do an x-ray." Rose explained, straightening out the Seeker's body on the table. I nodded. I kept a close eye on the Seeker, in case it woke up But, the only movement it made was its chest rising and lowering from its breathing. "Zoey, relax. It's knocked out." Rose whispered, placing her hand on my shoulder. "I-I know." I whispered, not breaking eye contact with the Seeker. "She has a right to be tense." Jackson spoke, stepping in, "Seekers are dangerous." Rose gave him a nod, "Oh, I know."
I let out a breath that I didn't know I was holding. "I am afraid." I say, fiddling with my hands, finally breaking eye contact with the Seeker. "How come?" John asked. "The Seeker might wake up and go berserk." I explained softly. John's eyes softened. "That is why we have back up." He says, pointing to the four guards, trying to reassure me. I swallowed and gave John a small nod. "Well, let's get some sleep, Zoe." Jackson spoke up. He gently rested his hand on my lower back. "Goodnight everyone." I said, "Good luck."
~The Next Day~
Jackson and I where in the lab with John and Rose. "Well, we found out some stuff about Seekers." Rose says, glancing at a clipboard she was holding. "Go on." Jackson motioned. "Well, for one, Seekers have no definite gender." Rose says. I looked over at the Seeker. It was awake and in a cage, but something was off. It was silent. It wasn't even trying to swipe at us. It's big white eyes looked back at me, almost like it was curious. "Seekers do in fact hibernate. They dislike cold temperatures." John explains. I kept looking at the Seeker. "How...How come it's not swiping at us?" I asked, not breaking eye contact with it. "I don't know. I think the serum we used as a base for the tranq tamed it." Rose answered, glancing at the Seeker. "TAMED IT?!" Jackson blurts. Rose nods. My eyes widened. This could mean... "Do you know what this could mean?!" Jackson asks. John's and Rose's eyes widened.
