Reluctantly Joel pulled away from Elizabeth, she looked crestfallen, and she couldn't understand what she had done wrong.

"We need to stop this Eliza.
Joel said softly but with a deep regret. Elizabeth stepped forward closing the tiny gap that had formed between them.

"But why, what did I do wrong?"
Joel adored her innocence; he took hold of her hands and brought them, up to his mouth kissing them tenderly.

"Oh my sweet, sweet love" he said, trying to talk like the way they do in Elizabeth's time. "you could never do anything wrong, on the contrary you are just too perfect, more than I will ever deserve."

Elizabeth sank into his warm dependable arms and Joel rested his cheek on her head, he loved to feel her close to him. Elizabeth felt the warmth of his skin through his shirt as she held tightly to his back. She was determined not to mess this up or let him go.

"I want to be everything you deserve though Joel ."

Joel wondered if she meant what he had said earlier before he went to work. He sat down in the rocking chair pulling Elizabeth onto his lap; he held his arms around her waist as she nuzzled into his chest.

"Now what I was saying earlier about when I go home."

Elizabeth sighed silently.
"I want you to stay here with me."

Joel kissed the top of her head.
"That is what I want darlin', to spend the rest of my life with you and that means when I go home I want you to come with me."

"This is my home Joel, it's where I belong."

Joel stroked her hair.
"Listen, have you thought that maybe I was sent here to find you? To find you, fall in love and to take you to some where better. I want you with me always, that means you coming home with me."

She sighed loudly now.
"But Joel I am home and what if you stay here, I just think we should think about things here and not silly things that won't ever happen. This is my home and I belong here."

Joel ran his fingers through her hair.
" Eliza, please, IF I go home and I mean IF alright? Will you come with me?" she was quiet for a while, the things he had told her about his world seemed so unreal, she wondered what on earth girls did to look after their men and how come the men would do things in the home too. It was all so very strange, she had spent her life caring for people, if she entered his world she would be out of place and out of her time, she was sure she couldn't cope with it.

"I,I,I....... I'm sorry Joel but I can't, I want to be with you of course, I do. but I don't belong somewhere so alien to me, I am used to working and caring for people, for my family."

Joel didn't think the words just flowed from his mouth.

"Then come back with me, when the fog returns you come with me and we can have our own family that we can raise and care for together, you deserve more than this Eliza, so much more and I can give that to you. I can give you a life where you don't need to worry about money, or food or clothes, I want you to be my wife and carry my children, a real family. Our family, one that will stay with us, not just take what you can do for them and then leave you alone, a true family that stays together."

The picture Joel painted was a dream come true, despite her tough exterior she had always wanted her own family, because the family she had never cared about her. but it had always seemed so far out of her reach; he made it now sound like something she could truly have.
