Not realizing I had been asleep for the last three hours, I peeled my eyes open and looked around Adams living room. I was confused when I found that a blanket had been laid over me.
I twisted my head around to look over at the smaller couch, and saw that Adam was sitting there, while I was taking up the entire big couch by laying across it sideways. Adam noticed I was awake and took his overear headphones off, smiled, then turned back to whatever he was working on with his laptop.
"Oh- um... Are Katie and Abbey on their way back soon," I asked in a light, groggy voice.
Adam let out a small, breathy chuckle. "Well, they're probably sound asleep right now, actually. They already came back a couple hours ago... and you wouldn't wake up for anything."
I gave him a puzzled look. "Oh. Wha-what time is it?"
Looking down at the watch on his left wrist, even though his MacBook screen was right in front of his face, Adam answered, "3:06."
"Oh dang, I'm so sorry to intrude your house like this," I pouted. "Mmm, ouch." My ankle was throbbing again.
"Nah, no worries. Really. Abbey and Katie should be done with their photoshoot around 10am, and they'll be back over here shortly after that. How's that ice doing by the way? Do you need it replaced?"
"Oh, well..." I sat up and bent over to squish the pack that was no longer icey. "Well, yes please- if you wouldn't mind, that is. It's all melted and a bit warm now."
"You got it," Adam kindly replied as he put his laptop to the side and closed his reclined seat.
"Oooh. Do they all do that, Adam?" I curiously giggled.
"Recline? Yes Olivia, they all do that," he laughed as he walked over to me, carefully sliding the melted ice pack out from under my foot, then asked, "Would you like your seat reclined?"
"Oh! Sure- I mean- Yes please." With a stupid grin, I couldn't hide my awkwardness no matter how hard I tried.
Adam held my leg up with a pillow under it while I adjusted, then he pulled out the couches built-in ottoman. "Comfortable?" He genuinely asked with a tired smile.
"Yes, thank you so, very much."
"No prob. Let me go trade out these ice packs real quick. After that, are you up for a rematch of classic Smash Bros.? That was a seriously sore loss you made me endore earlier," Adam teased with a laugh. "But no worries if you wanna rest up some more since it's still practically the middle of the night."
"Ha, you're on!" I exclaimed.
Adam smirked, then headed towards the kitchen. He entered the living room again, holding an ice pack in his hands.
"Thanks... again." my words seemed to stumble as Adam put the fresh ice on my foot.
He just nodded his head, and walked over to his entertainment centre to pull out the Nintendo system. "This time, I get the lucky blue controller," Adam winked.
