so he was coming over... this was somehow comforting. despite being an absolute mess, she was excited for him to come over, unlike before, that is.
a week ago she was getting butterflies in her stomach every time she was even just thought about him. whenever they texted, she had this giddy feeling. it was such puppy love, he gave her that same feeling you get when you have a crush.
a small crush, that's all she thought it was at first. even before she'd revealed herself, she had this voice in the back of her head going on and on about how cute zach was, how sweet his words were.
but she never thought much of it. a crush, that's all it was, nothing less, nothing more. she didn't expect much of it either. she was a teenager, so it had to be normal.
but recently? it wasn't that giddy feeling anymore, she felt safe around him. instead of feeling nervous, she felt secure.
if you asked her the difference between a crush and love two weeks ago, she'd be absolutely clueless. love to her was superficial. it looked real, but she knew it wasn't. the only love that existed was in movies. situations like jake standing outside for samantha is sixteen candles, or bender celebrating his success on asking claire out.
that shit wasn't real to her. not until a week ago, at least.
that need to know how and where he was. she longed to hear his laugh in person, see his smile with her own eyes. she constantly missed the long conversations she had with the boy. she always missed him.
but he was coming over, finally.
knock knock
she stood up quickly and ran straight to the door and opened it as quickly as she could. ecstatic to see her best friend again, right as she saw his face, her arms looped around his neck embracing him tightly.
"well someone missed me." he said as a chuckle escaped his lips.
"i did, so much." she said, going on her tippy toes to nuzzle her head into the crook of his neck.
"it's only been 3 days, ami."
"that's a long time, okay? especially when you're only like, 10 minutes away."
"okay true, but if you want me to not suffocate to death, i suggest you let go." he said.
"right, right." she smiled, "come in, ignore the mess."
he walked around a bit, observing the mess, instead of ignoring it was she instructed. he noticed how most of it was paint, from the project she had mentioned earlier.
"you never told me you could paint." he said, picking up the piece she had been painting right before her arrival.
"that's because i can't."
"the fuck, yes you can. i swear, bob ross would be shaking in his shoes."
"haha very funny." she fake laughed, "how many times do i have to tell you not to lie?"
"as many as you see fit. i'm just trying to make you realise i'm not lying."
"whatever." she rolled her eyes, " what do you want to do anyway?"
"i wanna go to olive garden."
"oh there's one down the block, we could walk if you want?"
"sure, sure." she said, "lemme get ready first."
"you look fiiiiine." he insisted, "just wear my hoodie, c'mon let's go."
"zachhh," she said, "ugh fine. anything for breadsticks."
so she put on his hoodie, grabbed her phone and keys and the pair was on their merry way.
