Tom and Mia both left the GB Diving Team complex, the glowing and blistering sun beaming down on the two teenagers as they took part in their journey towards the training facility. The typical Australian heat was excruciating for the British divers, who were used to the usual rainy weather of the United Kingdom.
Being the gentleman that he is, Tom approached the door that exited the apartment complex and held it open for the brunette diver. Mia smiled gratefully before walking under his arm to be hit with the Australian air.
She inhaled the sunny weather, enjoying her first real encounter with the light weather of Australia. "I could get used to this," she mumbled to herself, spreading her arms out so the toasty sun would warm them.
"Better not get to used to this weather," Tom said from behind her, frightening her severely since she forgot of his presence.
"And why not?" Mia asked harshly, crossing her arms over her chest. Tom found her change in mood amusing, widening his strides to catch up with the beautiful young girl.
"Has coach Banks not told you that we have Commonwealth Games in two weeks?" Tom inquired, raising an eyebrow. "That means we will have to travel back to Greece for the competition, where the weather is brutally cold."
"Lovely," Mia replied sarcastically, frowning. "But I thought that there was a competition here in Australia we were competing in?"
"That is just for men synchro, women synchro, and mixed synchro." Tom answered, his eyes focused on his torn up shoes that scraped against the sidewalk. "So you will be able to enjoy this weather for a while longer."
"Good," Mia responded enthusiastically, "I could really use a nice tan after the brutal rainy weather in England."
Tom chuckled, causing Mia to look over towards him in confusion.
"What’s so funny? Sorry we all can't be as naturally golden brown as you."
He merely nodded his head, an entertained smile on his face. Tom found her sarcastic and defensive remarks undeniably adorable.
"Then why are you laughing at me?" She whined, narrowing her brown eyes.
"Oh nothing," he mused, looking towards her and finding an admiration for how beautiful her eyes were. "I am just remembering your awful attempt of checking me out earlier."
Her mouth gaped open, staring at the attractive diver walking beside her, who was merely smirking at her. "I did no such thing!"
He rolled his eyes, his bright and shining teeth on clear display. "Your jacket begs to differ."
Mia clenched her teeth together, as a mix between anger and embarrassment bubbled within her. She hated being outdone, whether it was in diving, grades, remarks, or simply any competition available. Ever since a very young age, Mia has been extremely competitive.
"You might want to think of a better excuse next time," Tom smugly whispered in her ear, suddenly a few inches from Mia's face. His sudden closeness and the smell of his aftershave caused her breath to get stuck in her throat. "Especially when we are in Australia in the middle of summer."
She stepped a good foot away from the young man, goose bumps still settling on her forearms. She narrowed her eyes, only bringing more laughter to Tom as she mentally cursed herself.
Why was she getting all these strange feelings when she was around him? She felt like a stupid schoolgirl by how attracted she was to Tom, one of the biggest heartthrobs in England. Tom mesmerized her school, sister, friends, and practically the whole country with his down to earth personality, charming looks, and inspirational story.
