CHAPTER SEVEN

I awoke what seemed like minutes later on her bed, with nobody in sight. I felt awful, that was the strangest sensation that ever happened to me. I was just glad it was over. I sat up and stretched, feeling much more energized when I stood back up. Actually, I felt wonderful! I haven't felt this great in ages. There was a knock on the door. "Who is it?" I ask. Wait. Something was wrong. My voice was a little squeaky, that's all. I cleared my throat.

"It's me, Jenna. You alright in there?"

"Jenna who?" What was going on? My voice was still higher than normal no matter how many times I cleared it. It actually sounded a lot like... but no, it couldn't be. Could it? I had to check.

"You know, Jenna. We met last week at school, I'm in your math class. Are you alright?" I had to think fast. "I-I'll be out in a minute." I just had to check something first.

I walked slowly over to Leighton's closet door, slowly walked in front of the mirror with my eyes closed. I opened them, and screamed. Loud. Breaking the sound barrier loud.

This was just too overwhelming for me. I started seeing spots again. "You sure you're alright in there?" I hear a voice say, pulling me out of my trance. Right, Jenna.

I move to open the door, noticing how much more slender my arms and hands were. This is going to take a lot of getting used to. I twist the handle, opening the door for this so called Jenna girl. I looked up and saw her, brown hair, brown eyes, black glasses that just fit her looks perfectly. Honestly I thought she was beautiful. Not that I would say that out loud of course, me being a girl now and all. That sounded so wrong just thinking it.

My thoughts were interrupted by Jenna.

"You sure you're okay?" she laughs. She had a cute little laugh. "You've been zoned out ever since you opened the door for me. May I come in or is this a bad time?"

I think for a moment, then reply, "No, no, it's fine. Come on in." I move over so she can pass.

"On my way up I saw that cute boy, Matt I think? Anyway he was just running out of here like a maniac." She stops, a smile coming to her face. "Ooh, did something happen up here between you two?" I just sat there frozen. I really didn't feel comfortable talking to this girl, even though she was so chatty. Then I thought back to what she said.

"Wait, you think he's cute?"

"Duh! Where have you been, girl? I know you're new and all, but anyone can tell that boy has good looks. Every girl at school practically drools at his feet, and he acts like he doesn't even notice. Which makes him even more cute."

That's because I don't notice, I say in my head. Aloud I say, "He's alright, I guess." Then I remembered the party going on downstairs. "Excuse me a moment." I continued to run down the stairs, turn the music off, and scream "Alright everybody, party over! Everybody go home, NOW!" Wow I didn't know girls could scream quite so loudly. It even hurt my ears a little. Or Leighton's I should say. Everyone heard me, and most started arguing. I gave them my evil death glare and they all got the message. Everyone all but ran out the door, dropping beer filled cups as they went. That's going to be really fun to clean up, I think to myself.

I hear someone coming down the stairs, and was just about to scream at them too until I saw who it was, Jenna. "Damn you scream pretty loudly," she says with a smile and a soft laugh. God I love that laugh. And she thinks I'm cute! Well, my body anyway. Too bad I'm not in it right now though.

"Would it be too much to ask if you stayed to help clean up?" I asked, pleading with my eyes. I could get used to these puppy dog eyes of Leighton's, they'd work on anyone.

She rolled her eyes, but picked up a bag and started cleaning up the place. "Thanks," I say, picking up my own bag. We continued this for hours in a comfortable silence until the place was completely clean.
