Chapter 9

"Your Highness, everyone is looking for you! Please return!" Grace said respectfully but firmly at the same time.

What Grace did not notice was that her words had been completely ignored. The King's attention was wholly on the mysterious beauty standing behind Grace. He had thought his wife was the most beautiful woman he had ever met, but this beauty had successfully charmed him with the purity and innocence radiating from her.

Decked out in a light blue dress with a maroon scarf wrapped around her neck, the maiden's pale skin did not give him the impression that she was ill but that of a delicate snow lily that might wilt at the slightest touch. The look of wariness in her eyes seemed to have a silent fire burning within those dark pupils, as though there was something more than her fragile appearance.

As the King's eyes roamed all over Rozenbach, he felt a similar sense of deja vu as though he had experienced something like this not too long ago...

This father and son, they are the same!

Having gotten used to Rozenbach's unusual behavior, Tea Cake moved to her master's back, pinning his wrists behind his back to ensure that he would not make any unnecessary movement.

LET ME GO! I'LL RIP HIS EYES OUT! Rozenbach gnashed his teeth as he tried to make eye-contact with Tea Cake, fruitlessly struggling against his demihuman maid.

Unfortunately, to the eyes of everyone else around him, his actions only cemented the impression of a delicate maiden who was merely shy of the intimidating soldier who appeared out of nowhere and was at a loss as to what to do.

"...I shall go back." The king finally replied after he took his lingering eyes off Rozenbach.

Grace was taken aback. She had expected to engage in a war of tongues with the king to stall for time until the actual soldiers arrived but he had actually agreed to go back after one sentence from her!

Grace's harsh stare softened when she stared at the King. "The Queen will be relieved." The King nodded and walked away without looking back.

Seeing the King walking away just like that, Rozenbach turned to look at Grace.

"Doctor, aren't you going to follow him? What if he runs away again?"

"Ah!" Grace suddenly realized that as well. The King had gone willingly, but who knew if that was just an act to escape from her?

"But what about you?"

"What about me?"

"I need to guide you to the selection ground!"

There's no need! Just go... so that I can escape already... OAO!!!

Rozenbach began to think that some malicious Gods in this world were acting behind the scenes to ensure that he, a straight male, would be embroiled into a BL story for their own twisted fantasies (You're almost right actually...).

"I think the King will not be running away anymore!" Tea Cake circled back around and suddenly cut into the conversation.

Grace and Rozenbach blinked at the little maid, the former out of curiosity and the latter in disbelief.
