Did you know that stars can orbit one another?
These pairs of stars can form what is called a binary star system. The center of a solar system with one larger star, and one smaller. These two continuously orbit one another, creating a center of mass between them both, as seen above.
I find this a very interesting metaphor for human relationships. Partly because everyone could be symbolized as a star, but also due to the variables and interactions that affect both a binary star system and a relationship. For instance, two stars may split apart due to changes in gravitational forces, just as a relationship may end due to changes in interests from one or both parties. At the same time, it could be perceived as a beautiful metaphor, whereas the relationships we have with one another are beautifully extravagant and extremely unique. People aren't the same as one another, and that's what draws us into these binary pairs. In space, binary stars are perceived from our perspective as a flashing light, changing our normal view of what's out there. However, if you were in one of these systems, like a planet orbiting these stars, you would see a fantastic dance that these stars are locked into.
These pairs of stars should give those who are lovesick hope. Because every star can go into one of these pairs at any time. Our own sun has been theorized to have been in one of these pairs during the early formation of our universe. However, some force had split them apart. And likewise, who's to say some other solar system couldn't collide with ours? Forming a new binary star system with new planets and maybe even new life.
I hope that others appreciate this beautiful pairing of two stars as much as I do. And I hope whoever reads this finds peace with their own system.
Stay beautiful star-child.
