We laughed.
"Oh, the good old times." She brushed with one finger along her lower eye lid. We said in front of each other, both with one leg bent, the other hang loosely off the edge of the bed.
"Definitely.", I agreed grinning. Then I shook my head in disbelief. "It is still amazing, how fast we connected kind of. Like, I liked you the minute I saw you."
"Definitely." Now it was her time to agree. She looked at me with a faint, lopsided smile. "We made great friends back then. You really are something." She punched me lightly on my shoulder. I tried to give her a short smile, but looked away fast. Friends. I felt my heart beat. Yes, we had have awesome times. We were very good friends. And she was so ... great. She was this kind, adorable, unpredictable, funny, weird, caring person, that did not see that she was more to me than a friend. Whatever I thought would happen to my feelings towards her during this long period of absence, it had not.
"Hey, what's up? Is something wrong?", she asked softly. I looked into her worried face and was stunned for a second by her simple beauty.
I shook my head and smiled weakly.
"No, nothing's wrong." I cleared my throat. "I was just hung up in memories."
She gave me a warm smile. "Yeah, me too.", she said. And while saying that, she raised her arm and placed one hand on my cheek. I felt how the skin she touched heated up, sending pulses through my body like a crackling fire. With eyes wide open and full of surprise, I stared at her. We never really touched before, why did she do it? I could see her surprise written all over her face as well. She still looked at her own hand on my cheek. As in slow motion, she lifted her eyes towards mine and our gazes locked. I could not see her feelings in her eyes, but I could literally feel them, in the atmosphere around us, as if transported to me. She was surprised, she was confused, she didn't know what was going on, oh mother nature, she felt the same as me! I was absolutely positive. She just never realised before, because we always have been only friends. Maybe wasn't even sure about it now.
I was pumped up. And so nervous at the same time. My heart raced, my stomach felt nauseous and my hands were shaking. But I scraped up all my courage together, lifted my hands, placed my hands on her cheeks as she still had on mine, and pulled her in for a beautiful kiss. She inhaled sharply when our lips met, out of surprise, out of fear, I didn't know, I didn't care, maybe both. But she kissed me back and that was all that mattered. How much time I have longed for that kiss.
