My friend and me were sitting on a coach. It was cold, so we used the same blanket. Both of us leaned against the soft backrest. The movie was just about to finish and I was touched. So many emotions, so many well taken shots. I cuddled up happily into the pillows. My friend still dreamily was watching the credits, moving her head almost imperceptible from side to side along the music. She was a very kind and generous person. I was happy to have her.
I looked back at the screen. A new song began to play. I knew that song. I knew it very well. And it reminded me on him. Him, of who I had forbidden myself to think of and actually had thought was completely done with. But no, the feelings swept up again and I felt my throat get stuck. I took a deep and shaky breath in. I shifted a bit over to my friend.
"Hey, what is it?", she asked and immediately put an arm around my shoulders, pulling me closer in.
"Just, the song ... Reminded me on him." I stammered.
"Oh, honey", she murmured, put her other hand on my lower arm. Mine automatically found hers. "You are worth so much better than that brat." She kissed the crown of my head and placed her chin on it. I couldn't properly breath in this tightening position, though I wouldn't have wanted to change it for the world. It felt so good being appreciated, being loved as one was, without conditions. I felt warm and so secure. A tear ran down my cheek. Not because of him, but because I felt so blessed with my friend. Someone I could count on, someone who would listen to me every time and about everything, someone I felt with save enough to show all of my feelings and cry. And I knew she didn't mind a bit.
I reached around her waist and squeezed her to show her my appreciation.
"Yes, I am worth more than that", I smiled happily and closed my eyes, content. She made an agreeing humming noise.
