Chapter 4
Did it feel good to have weeks of searching for the chosen one and come up empty?
No, it did not feel good.
In fact, Ami was starting to doubt everything around her.
Thunder roared.
"We can always try tomorrow," Han offered but Ami shook her head.
Today was different, there was something in the pit of her stomach that told her today was going to be different.
Han and Ami stood quietly above a building overlooking the metro station. Something had led Han here but since it started raining, the scent he was tracking withered away.
More lighting and thunder struck around them.
Strange.
Fear struck Ami's core and she fell on one of her knees.
"Are you okay?" Han gaped. He reached a hand, but Ami pushed it away.
"I feel her," Ami licked her teeth. Fear coated her mouth, salty fear. Human fear.
Human Halfling.
King above, the chosen one was a female human halfling.
The fear kept coming, it coated Ami's tongue with iron.
"She's a human halfling." Ami gasped clenching her head.
"Why is this happening to you?" Han could only watch her with a worry cast.
Cold fire struck Ami's body. It was like something snatched half her soul and bound it to a cold fire. A light blue burning fire. There was nothing normal about this fire, nothing normal about this chosen one. Her power slammed into Ami's body. It was trying to consume Ami's own power, but her power raged inside her. Calming it couldn't be tamed so a war began between them, arguing on who would win the battle. The chosen one's powers slammed into Ami all at once. All seven elements tried breaking her simple one element-based soul. It didn't work, no matter how powerful the chosen one was, Ami's core didn't yield, didn't falter to fight. The powers of both chosen and guardian then greeted themselves as neither enemy or friend. A single person broken into two.
Where are you?
Ami pushed that thought towards the other soul now bounded to half of her own.
Who are you?
The voice was definitely feminine.
The call must have disconnected because when Ami reached there was just an empty void.
"Ami?" Han was shaking her. The fighting between her soul and the chosen one had left her breathless as she rose.
"I know how to find her." Ami rasped.
"What happened?" Ami shook her head. She didn't know how to explain to Han that the chosen one's soul had just tried to consume all her power to make her submit to its own will.
"We been soul bound." Ami rubbed her chest. The only soul bounding known to Nephilim were soul mates or mates. Whatever people called them. When a whole soul becomes with another.
Half of Ami's soul had been bound to the chosen one.
"What does this mean?" Han asked. Concern was written well over his face.
