Chapter 9
The first day back at school was eye opening to Devyn. Her mother had confessed that she was a witcher, and that now her powers had awaken, they would come after her.
Devyn couldn't believe her eyes, but her mother promised her that it was the truth. The nephilims had come and killed her father for being a witcher, that they would come for her too if she didn't keep her mouth shut about her new found abilities.
For the first time ever, Devyn was glad she was in this school, that her life was plain as toast. With her new knowledge of the supernatural world, she regretted ever wishing for something out of the ordinary to happen to her because once it did, her best friend had nearly died.
"Devyn, you are okay!" Cerise run up to her with her group of friends beside her. Both her wrists were in a pink cast.
"I'm so so-"
"Why are you saying sorry? Devyn you are a hero! Because of your fast thinking, I'm alive!" Cerise shouted for all those around her to hear her.
"Your wrists-"
"I rather have two broken wrists than being dead," her group of friends nodded in agreement.
"Fine, well what did I miss?" Devyn perked a smile at her friend along with the others one.
"Nothing-Oh no, wait. Two new students arrived to this school in the middle of the semester. They both are foreign. Literally everyone wants to talk to them!" Cerise seemed mesmerized.
They will come for you like they for your father.
No, it couldn't be nephilims, Devyn thought. This was just a coincidence, she had never done anything bad in her life. Except the time she shoplifted from Walmart, but that didn't count, did it?
"They are coming this way." One of Cerise's friend said in a hushed voice.
Devyn turned around to see the most gorgeous humans she ever seen in her life. The girl was short, with dark chocolate brown hair wrapped in a braided bun, her golden skin with lush red lips and cat eyeliner to emphasis her big golden eyes. She looked like a doll, beautiful. There was something sad about her face though, like she didn't want to be here. Her skirt was lifted like all the other girls, but she didn't wear tights, she wore thigh high socks. Devyn assumed the girl had to be Latina or something because she was extremely curvy and thick, Devyn could see her strong muscles in her legs and upper body. The boy next to her was tall and pale, with straight brows and pink lips. His hair was messy, and he too was extremely fit with large muscle arms like the girl.
He too had a sad face.
There was no way these two beautiful sad faces be nephilim, they both seemed strong however, though as if they had no choice but to be strong.
They couldn't be nephilim, could they?
The girl glanced at Devyn for a brief moment, she wore black framed glasses and began walking past her.
Cerise looked at her too.
"Hey you!" Cerise called out to her.
Devyn hushed her, though it was too late. The girl turned around to face Devyn and Cerise's group.
"You called me?" the girl did sound foreign, but her accent, Devyn couldn't place it. Was this girl hispanic or middle eastern? Devyn wasn't too sure anymore.
"Yes, if you need a place to sit today during lunch, you can sit with me and my friends." Cerise also looked at the boy who stood silently by her side. His eyes were scanning the whole entire group, trying to look for something.
