Work Experience

'Work experience today... Really nervous :s'

I took a breath and smiled, today was the first day of my work experience. I was going to be hovering in a tattoo parlour for the next few weeks on different days. If I'm lucky I might get a go at tattooing someone. As if. I put my phone down and got out of bed. My room was a mess, clothes on my chair , makeup covering my desk, pencils and markers on my floor. I did my makeup, natural and light with eye liner. I left my brunette hair natural and straight with my fringe slightly covering my eye. I decided to wear my black ear tunnel it was a cute 10mm. For my outfit I didn't want to seem like I was trying to hard but at the same time I wanted to look nice so I wore black high top converse (my favourite), black skinny jeans, a loose white top and a leather jacket. I looked myself up and down in the mirror and nodded. After having a morning coffee I grabbed my bag and left my flat.
I arrived at the studio which was playing a nirvana song which made me smile before being greeted with a tall built guy with blonde gelled up hair and tattooed arms. 'Hey are you here to get inked?' He grinned. 'Uhm no I'm Alex? Alex Grey? I'm here for work experience.' I smiled nervously and stroked my fringe behind my ear. 'Alex' he nodded and held out his hand 'I'm James' I took his hand and shook it. 'You can leave your bag and jacket in the store back there. Uhm this is the counter where people book appointments for tattoos and piercings or if they just wanna buy some bars or plugs and over there' he said as he pointed to another counter, 'they are the design books.. Now back here is the inking rooms, in there is where we do the piercings then there's the store, kitchen and bathroom.' I nodded smiling, this place was perfect. 'Got it.' 'For now you will be working on the counter and making tea. I'll see how you get on there before letting you stand in on piercings and finally tattoos.' 'Okay cool, so is it just you?' He laughed, 'No no, I do tattoos and my girlfriend Scarlet does the piercings.' I nodded and looked at the girl standing in the piercing room, she was pretty with short blonde hair. I could only see the back of her. 'Sweet.' I said putting my stuff into the store, coming out I saw a wall of pictures of peoples tattoos and famous people that had visited here. Three caught my eye; a picture of Josh from You Me At Six, Russell Howard and Oliver from Bring Me the Horizon. I looked at all of them and smiled. I only had two tattoos myself; a butterfly behind my left ear and a bird on my wrist.
At the end of my shift I had booked three piercings and two tattoos. I had a chance to flick through the design book and get to know Scarlet, like me she was 19, she has 8 tattoos and 5 piercings, she lives with James in the flat above the parlour. Me and her got on pretty well and as for James he was funny and said that for my first day I did good.
