STAGE 1 - THE ROAD - PHASE 0.0

[ TAEYONG ]

My friends, step brother and I were driving back home on a long dark road. We came from our three days camping we planned after a very exhausting month we had.

The absence of moon that was covered by heavy clouds was making the whole night sky very gloomy when in fact it was just six o'clock pm.

"It's great that we already left before the storm caught us" I said tapping the steering wheel matching the beat of an old song playing on the radio.

The only thing that guided us was the headlight on my car illuminating the seems to be endless road.

Thus, that doesn't bother us cause we were used to this kind of situation. I mean, we're campers so dark long road was nothing to be afraid of. We sang along on whatever music plays on the radio or throws some random jokes to kill our boredom.

I am the driver, beside me was my brother Donghyuck, while Jaehyun, Winwin, Jeno, and Jaemin were on the back seat.

Yuta was driving the other car who was tailing us with mark, lucas and jungwoo as his passengers.

We all cringed when donghyuck confessed a really embarrassing moment happened to him and how terrible it went. Soon our laughter slowly died when the comfortable silence immediately engulfed us.

The only thing that can be heard was the rumbling of the tires and again some random song playing on the radio in low volume. We felt so tired and exhausted to chat anymore.

Even Jaemin who was usually loud has his head hang low from exhaustion. They enjoyed the camp which I'm really grateful for.

"The camp site is so amazing. we should go there again" jaehyun said browsing the photos he took on his camera, smiling.

"It felt like we're free from the world" Winwin added after scooting closer beside jaehyun to have a better look on our photos.

Jeno who was sitting behind them pressed his lips into thin line mumbling, "why does my photos look so ugly?" Which receive a scoff from my brother.

"yeah, but, it's way too far" My reply on Jaehyun, yawning, focusing on the road.

I felt my eyelids were getting heavier because I'm also exhausted.

I need to resist the urge of sleeping.

I looked over the rear mirror and saw Jaehyun has his eyes close, Winwin's head leaning on the window, while Jaemin's head was on Jeno's shoulder and Jeno's was on Jaemin's head, sleeping.

I glanced at donghyuck who was blabbering about his phone that was displaying the 'shutting down' on its screen. He tossed it backwards finding it not useful anymore that fortunately didn't hit anyone.

He's too lively unlike us that the thought of letting him drive crossed my mind. I quickly shook my head, disagreeing on myself when a memory of him almost driving us to our death flashed.

'i will never let him take over the wheel again'

I averted my gaze, eyes now on the road, my eyes squinted when I saw something shining from afar and was moving but no one seems to notice it.

what should I do?
