Oakfur slipped out of the den. Softbelly and Ravenstripe were talking softly to themselves. Hawkpaw bounded up to Oakfur. He took in a sharp breath. She didn't look like Wolfpaw. She looked like Hawkcloud. He felt a pang of sadness. Hawkcloud had been a good warrior, nothing like his brother. And Wolfclaw had killed him. Wolfclaw had killed so many cats, he didn't deserve to live. Hawkpaw smiled up at Oakfur. Her tail twitched.

"Do you want to come on border patrol with us?" asked Hawkpaw eagerly. Oakfur nodded reluctantly. "Great! We're leaving now!" Oakfur nodded and followed the apprentice to the camp entrance. Snowflame, Hawkpaw's mentor was waiting with Eaglepaw and his mentor, Ottercry. They nodded at Oakfur and slipped out. Oakfur didn't pay attention as they went to ThunderClan border to mark it or when they passed a WindClan border patrol who hissed at them threats. He could only think of his dead brother. Dead for nothing. Wolfclaw had brought some angry cats with him for revenge but for what? Oakfur let out a small growl. Hawkpaw turned to him, her eyes big with worry.

            "Are you alright?" she asked.

"Yeah," replied Oakfur. Suddenly, out of the brambles, sprung Firepaw. He rolled onto Oakfur who roughly pushed him of and nipped him angrily on the ear.

"What are you doing?" he growled. Wolfclaw appeared. He brushed past Oakfur and separated his new apprentice from Oakfur.

"Firepaw, apologise," frowned Wolfclaw. "Why did you do that?"

"Sorry, I was just practising my stalking skills," mumbled Firepaw. Oakfur glared at him then walked away, not even glancing at Wolfclaw. He joined his patrol but they had stopped. Hawkpaw and Eaglepaw bounded up to Wolfclaw.

           "Dad!" they cried.

"Hey guys," smiled Wolfclaw. "Hey, Ottercry and Snowflame are waiting go back to them and be good apprentices. I'm sure you're going to do great today." Hawkpaw and Eaglepaw hung their heads and ran up to their mentors' sides. Oakfur pushed past them and towards camp. He had enough of Wolfclaw. He was happy. Blissfully ignoring the death of so many RiverClan cats, which he had caused. He let another snarl escape but this time nobody was around to hear it. He walked through the forest, towards the wet lands, feeling nothing but anger and hatred.
