Ciel Phantomhive starts the walk toward the ballroom for his lesson. A faint sound of violin can barely be heard in the hallway. The Earl does not normally care to listen to such things, but this time Ciel could hear something buried deep within the music. Emotions Ciel had only heard once before in his life.

"Daddy! Play more! Play more!" A small child's voice rings out clearly throughout the large domed room.

The man laughs and continues to play a violin.
A sweet melodic sound reaches the child's ears. He squeals in joy, and starts dancing around the room

The father is smiling widely while running the bow over the strings, and he is still smiling even after he finished the song he was playing.

"Daddy," the child says as the dad picked him up, "why do you smile when you play?"

"Because I love you, and I show that through my music. I love seeing you so happy when I play for you.
Playing the violin is a way for me to show you that I love you with all my heart. And that makes me smile"

"So when you play the violin like you were, you are showing me you love me?"

"That's right!"
"I love you daddy." The child hugs the father's neck.

"I love you too Ciel."

Ciel squints his eyes shut and shakes his head to get rid of the memory. There is no need to dwell on the past.

One small part sneaks it's way into his head however.
"I only have heard music being played like that when my father was..." Ciel grits his teeth, "alive. He said he showed me he loves me through his music." Ciel thought.

He walks over to the door to the ballroom and places his pale hand on it. Leaning his head against the large wooden door, Ciel closes his eyes and lets the music flood into his head. Only now did Ciel realize how lonely he is. Having not heard loving music since 8 years previously, Ciel forgot what it sounded like. I miss it.. I never thought I could miss something so unimportant as music, but maybe it is important.. Ciel squeezes his eyes shut and takes in a shuddering breath.

Something suddenly clicks inside Ciel's brain. "Who is playing that? And why are they playing that the same way my.. father did?" Ciel is confused. He realizes that it is now 2:31.
Ciel opens the large door, and slowly walks into the ballroom.
The music has not stopped, and Ciel moves his eyes to the player of the violin. There, his butler eyes closed, is playing Ciel's violin. The deep passion coming from the music can be seen from the look on Sebastian's face. His arm is moving so quickly Ciel can barely see it.

"Sebastian?" Ciel asks almost in a whisper.
"Oh, my apologies master," Sebastian remarks surprised, "I did not hear you come it."
His butler places the violin down on the table next to Ciel's music.

Ciel did not want the song to end. He hadn't heard that kind of music in so long it had ended much to quickly.

"What do you think you are doing?" Ciel asks forcefully. He would not be taken as a fool who cries over sad music.

"Excuse me?" Sebastian glances up from the music he was ordering confused.

"Do not stop playing."
Ciel says looking down.
"What the hell?!" Ciel thinks to himself, "why are you doing this? You never cared about dumb violin songs before you made the contract!!"

"Yes my Lord," Sebastian says in reply, "Am I to ask why?"

"No you are not." A little heat rises up to Ciel's cheeks.

"Master, you are aware that this is your violin lesson not mine."
Sebastian says cheekily picking up the violin from the table.

"Of course, now play the damned song!"

"Yes my lord."

The music begins, and Ciel sits on the couch. The same question he had before pops up again.

Why the hell was Sebastian playing the song with love? He must not have been meaning too, considering that demons do not care about such idiotic human things such as love. I don't actually care about the song, but I care about how he was playing it. Ugh.... I'm not even sure I care or why for that matter. This whole thing is much too confusing. Why do I not just ask Sebastian why he plays like that? Honestly, I have nothing to be worried about. Even in the small chance he was being loving, would that be so bad? Yes, obviously. I shouldn't be concerned, Sebastian wouldn't know what love is if it danced in front of him. Ciel puts his head in his hands and lets out an audible groan.

"Master?" The music stops abruptly and Ciel's head whips up. "Do you not enjoy my music?" Sebastian inquires.

"Why would you think that!"
Ciel snaps.
"You just groaned, quite loudly in fact."

"Oh," Ciel did not realize he had made that sound out loud, "No I do enjoy your music."

"Actually I loved it." Ciel blurts out. He gasps and clamps his hand over his mouth. "Did I just say that?"

"Please, there is no need to be sarcastic My Lord." Sebastian looks down at Ciel.
"What the hell?"

"T-that was not sarcasm," Ciel stammers.

"My apologies Master,"

"Might I ask what about my music," Sebastian whispered sitting down next to Ciel on the couch, "you loved so much?"

"I, well, my father used to play me the violin to express his..." Ciel cringed, "love for me. And I had not heard it in a long time." Ciel's voice cracks, and he coughs. "It is so unbelievably foolish though, that I would even bother with the music again just because you have started playing it," Ciel laughs a humorless laugh. "It's madness that you would play with love, you're a damned demon! And if you think it is amusing to see me like this, than you can stop. See? Ha. Ha. Joke is over!" Ciel stands up off of the couch and points at Sebastian's face. "Why were you playing the wretched violin in the first place?"

Sebastian is silent.

"Tell me!" Ciel screams.
