The next month was a little less torture than the first couple weeks. I had caught up in all my work, but as the year progressed, the work got harder. It also didn't help that 'the gang' (as I liked to call them) never seemed to leave me alone. It wasn't very bad when it was Shiro or Allura, I had known them for years after all. Hunk and Pidge weren't so bad either. Hunk was constantly making amazing snacks for us, and giving me more than enough physical contact that I secretly craved. Pidge had also helped me quite a bit. They (I had quickly learned Pidge was non-binary, and therefore didn't like using she/he) had fixed my laptop multiple times, and had a weird sense of humor that strangely went perfectly with my own. We had also had more than a few cryptid marathons (bigfoot is real and nothing will change my opinion).

No, the problem wasn’t them. The problem was Lance. We had almost every class together, and almost any time I hung out with Pidge or Hunk he’d be there too. With all the time we had spent together it had only taken me a couple weeks to fall completely head over heels for him. And now I didn’t know what to do anymore. How do I hide a MASSIVE crush on my soulmate who I spend over 7 hours a day with.

“Hey Keith.” I jumped as Lance slung his arms over me.

“Hey. I didn't hear you come in.” I was sitting in my dorm doing homework. For some reason the gang had decided my dorm was the hang out spot (probably cause I'm the only one without a roommate) and it had become normal for them to randomly come in.

At first it had been really annoying since I was used to being alone for most of the day, but they were actually really supportive and cool.

“Have you finished the paper for astronomy? I can't decide what I want to write about.”

“Seriously!” I gaped at him. “That's due tomorrow! How have you not started it yet!”

“I guess I've been a little distracted.”

“With what?”

“You know that new kid, Lotor.”

“Yeah?” I tugged at my sleeve, my arm tingling from phantom pain.

“Well.” He rubbed a hand behind his neck as a faint blush speckled his cheeks. “He's my new roommate, and he's really cute and stuff.”

“Seriously. You have a crush on Lotor?”

“Yes?”

“Have you met him!? That guy's a jerk.” I held back a shiver as memories slammed into me.

Disgusting rat

You belong in a zoo

Where's your big brother to protect you now?

Lance frowned at me in confusion. “He seems pretty nice from what I've seen.”

I turned back to my work, deciding it wasn't worth it to argue. “Maybe he changed. I don't know.”

“Yeah… maybe.” Lance sat across from me and pulled out his homework. He bent back over his bag, digging through it before sighing.

“What?” I asked.

“I forgot my laptop.”

“You can borrow mine.”

“Seriously.”

“Yeah. Why not.” I grabbed my laptop from on top of the dresser and unlocked it before sliding it over to him.

“Thanks man. You're a lifesaver.”

“You're welcome.”

We both sat in silence, trying to do our work. Lance kept grumbling and groaning about how difficult it was. And I kept getting distracted by the adorable boy in front of me.
