I must be asleep.
T-that's it!
Because there was no way Kian would kiss me like he did! This entire day must be one very, very long dream. I mean, that's the only logical explanation for all the crap that went down. Felix saw me getting a little too cozy with the new guy, the said new guy asked me to teach him how to tie a tie (which I'm starting to think was just all a ploy to get me close to him) and then he –
Why the hell are my lips still tingling? There wasn't even tongue involved. It was really all just lips. He moved maybe once and then we separated!
I hate this so much right now.
"She's more out of it than usual..." A nice, friendlier voice suddenly intruded the nasty whirlwind in my head. I had to blink a couple times to see the chicken sandwich in front of me or really close to my face. It was lunchtime that very same day I believe. I don't even know anymore. Today has been pretty much dulled because my mind wouldn't stop replaying the stupid events that happened before the first bell.
I seriously just stopped halfway into a bite...this is worse than I thought. We just so happened to be sitting in the cafeteria, too filled with high school students. Evie managed to secure a table with eight chairs for us since her class before was closer to the cafeteria than Paige's and mines. The three of us and occasionally my brother with some of his buddies usually had lunch out by the soccer field so they could mess around with a ball for a bit. Since it is October and autumn is hitting, the temperatures are dropping lower making most the students are moving indoors for lunch. The hallways where lunch can be eaten are filled, tables in the cafeteria are always taken within seconds and even some of the classrooms are opened for students.
Usually, I would eat in the student council room so I could multitask and talk to Felix. But because Felix is there, I've been taking some of the less confidential work with me everywhere else but there.
"You okay?" Paige asked, tucking a strand of her chestnut hair behind her ear. "You need to rest more, girl. All this work is going to kill you one day."
I took the bite and cleared my throat. "It's homecoming season and we're already behind schedule."
You're lucky it's not soccer season yet otherwise you really are gonna be overwhelmed." Paige tapped Evie's opposite shoulder, causing the poor girl to turn away before she stole one of her chicken nuggets.
All done so casually.
"You sure there's nothing we can do to help you?" she asked.
"Thanks, but there really isn't anything you guys can do." Wait hold on. "Can you guys ask around and get some homecoming theme ideas for me? We have to have this dance by the first of November otherwise..."
The pissed off student body is going to kill me.
Evie nodded, enthusiastically and Paige just sighed. "If it lessens your workload..."
I smiled at them warmly. I really did luck out with some of the bestest friends in the world. If they can get the theme idea down for me, then I can just focus on the budget and making the homecoming committee. Some of the councilmembers want to help but the other half are still in their rebellious state so I doubt they're going to do anything to make my life easy.
Even after two months, the seniors are still angry with me. But what can I do?
Yes; note the sarcasm.
"But more urgent matters at hand." Evie pushed her lunch aside, clasping her hands dramatically on the table.
I don't like where this is going already.
