The classic picture of a Fairy is that they are very small shimmering white women with wings on their back. It's somewhat true,it's often that they show themselves, but if a nature being is changing in general the fairies is changing especially. They can take a variety of shapes depending on mood, season, environment and depending on who is watching them.Sometimes they are seen as white fog over a damp meadow, some times like little frogs or like buzzing insects in the summer nights, and sometimes they are entirely invisible.Less known is the fact that even male fairies also exists. They often look like small aged old men and preforms the music at the fairy dance. Something very beautiful to witness.
They live collectively in mounds,on the meadows or mires, and is ruled by a Fairy queen and/or a Fairy King. They move around in grand processions with the royal couple at the top, at fairy paths that often is following underground water.
They are whimsical and gladly puts sickness at people who they for some reason has taken disapproval of,sometimes after a factual or imaginary injustice but sometimes by pure malice.Little kids is extra vulnerable as the Fairies like to bite on their little fingers. To put steel for an example putting a scissor in the cradle helps.
A person who had "gotten the fairy" believed often to have gotten the sickness blown at them by theses, and then alike cures alike expected a hard discharging air towards. For an example with a bellows has a curative effect. Another opportunity was to grease river mills with oil and possibly sacrifice a little gold in them, that abraded from a ring or something alike. River ills is the folk name on carvings, a simple form of rock carving made at the antiquity but mainly the bronze age.
The Faeries can be seen dancing at dusk or dawn, the most magical time at the day when all the borders is being erased, the light turns into the dark and black becomes white. It happens that they attracts passing humans into the dance.
These humans then loses all knowledge about time and space and can discover that years has past, even decades has gone by during the dance. The time is different in the Faeries world. Other dancers can get very sick or lose their comprehension, the faeries music settles in their ears and drives them crazy.
Sometimes you see mushrooms grown in a circle on the ground, this is a sign that the faeries have been dancing there and is therefore called Fairy rings. The unwise who takes a piss in the Fairy ring can count on getting deathly sick that same night.
