Daughter Mikalson
Chapter 11: It All Goes Up In Flames
Part 1:
After nearly 20 minutes of standing awkwardly by a group of people I didn't know, the third guy tonight had offered me a drink.
He was tall and muscular, and tan and had the cutest brown eyes. I didn't really have much experience with guys, other than the ones I would be feeding from...
Instead of turning this guy down, like I did the other two, I slowly took the red cup from him and sniffed hesitantly at the contents. Beer. I stood awkwardly across from the guy, the cup in my hand.
I didn't drink. I'd never even had one. The cute guy just chuckled at me.
"Want me to get you something else...?" He offered. I laughed a little and shook my head. "No, it's okay." I smiled. "I'm Hope." I smiled, offering my hand.
He smiled back and shook my hand. "Tyler." He smiled. My blue eyes went curious.
"Lockwood?" I questioned slightly. He nodded, "Even the new girl knows my name." He chuckled. I smiled, "Yeah, my aunt told me about you." I whispered slightly.
He nodded. "I haven't seen you around school, and I'm pretty sure I'd remember eyes like those." He said.
Was he flirting with me? I felt my heart skip a beat. I blushed, actually, blushed at the boy. I felt like some pathetic human, my heart skipping a beat in reaction of a boy. I was such an idiot.
I looked down and curled a strand of my hair behind my ear. I shifted slightly. "I just moved here a few days ago." I answered honestly, batting my eyelashes. He smiled. "You'll love it here." He assured me.
"It gets kinda weird here sometimes." He chuckled. I nodded and swallowed.
"Have you been to the falls yet?" He asked me with a small smile. I shook my head. "No." I mumbled. "I hear they're supposed to be really pretty at night... right?" I asked, trying to speak more. I felt like he was supplying most of the conversation. He nodded.
"I can show you, if you want?" He smiled. I laughed and nodded. "Sure, I've got nothing better to do." I chuckled a little, gesturing around me. He laughed and grabbed my hand.
His fingers were unnaturally warm in mine, and I felt comfort and nervous at the same time when we touched. I was amazed that this one small gesture was giving me butterflies.
I smiled up at his tall figure as I sat the still full red cup on the grass and let him lead me around.
When we were finally out of the crowd of sweaty bodies, I followed him over a bridge with twinkling lights on the tall barriers. I looked around.
It was... It was extremely beautiful...
I felt a smile on my face as I looked around. There was a small creek under the bridge, and we were surrounded by woods. The reflection of the lights in the dirty water under us was absolutely mesmerizing. I could feel Tyler's eyes on me as I stared.
I quickly averted my eyes to him and a small blush crept into my cheeks as I let out a breath and smiled. "Sorry, it's just..." I began to say, but couldn't think of a logical answer.
