Chapter 13 : Caroline, Hope. Hope, Caroline.

Part 1:

Hope's P.O.V

"What are you doing...?" Damon asked warily, a sigh escaping his lips. I shrugged. "Just thinking..." I mumbled vaguely.

Based on the Salvatore's reaction to Rebekah, if they found out the two remaining Originals were in town... I sighed and looked up at Damon who was sitting on the couch opposite of me, a drink balanced on his knee. I narrowed my eyes.

"What's your problem?" I asked him, itching to get my mind off my highly dysfunctional family. He rolled his eyes and sighed. After a few minutes of silence, I let out a low chuckle.

"Come on, it isn't like I haven't heard everyone else's problems." I smirked. He side glanced at me. His eyes were a bright intimidating, beautiful shade of blue. He rolled his eyes at me and took another drink.

I just chuckled and shook my head, folding my knees in front of me, resting my chin on my knees with a slow sigh. "What about you?" He spoke for the first time. "What's got Original Helper so down?" He smirked. I just rolled my eyes,

"Family problems."

I mumbled. He narrowed his eyes.

"Family?"

He questioned. I looked at him, his eyebrows were creased and his eyes were curious.

I said too much.

I shook my head, immediately putting an exhausted, fake smile on my face. "Nothing. Never mind." I whispered. He chuckled. "So now we're keeping secrets?" He questioned. I rolled my eyes at him, staring into the fire.

"Fine." He said after I didnt respond. I glanced at my phone, sitting on the couch beside me. It was nearly 11:00. I didn't want to sleep, I was too riled up.

I had my wavy hair pulled into a high ponytail, I wore a tank top and a pair of pajama shorts, and a pair of heavy, warm socks on my feet. Protecting them from the cold air in the boarding house.

"Haven't you ever heard of a thermostat?" I hissed, pulling a green throw blanket that was draped over the back of the couch around my bare arms and legs. "Never heard of a vampire getting cold...?" He questioned, his eyes curious again.

I rolled my eyes. "I'm not supposed to tell you what I am." I snapped at him, not making eye contact. He chuckled a little. "Rebekah's little helper, ever so loyal." He smirked, moving his glass around in circles, making the dark liquid spin.

I glared forwards. I was getting sick of being called Rebekah's 'Helper'. "I'm not Rebekah's Helper." I told him. He laughed, "It sure seems like it to me." He mumbled. I shot him another glare.
