"But Emily I need to strike this deal today and if better just seal the deal" Eva exasperated collecting her last draft from her work desk and suppressing the urge of another coffee, she had already consumed two cups and its been only ten in the morning.
"What's the rush Eva? You have plenty of time to deal with this. "Emily replied chewing on her breakfast which was ordinary cereal and milk.
Time, Eva sighed mentally again, she thought the same. Mistake, huge MISTAKE, when her rich dad politely agreed on her follow her dreams follow her heart speech she thought she won something big than resolving world war issue. Because her Dad was not only a great Businessman but also an A+ Negotiator, he skimmed her very wisely and she walked right into his trap. Time, Time Eva thought wordlessly in her mind, from where on earth is she going to crack this deal when she failed a whole year to fish any publisher for her novel.
"Emily you have to clear all the dues today before lunch, this is the last time I am reminding you before we are cut off from gas and electricity both" Eva narrowed her eyes at her god forbid lazy flatmate who also happens to be her one true friend since childhood. "Again" Eva emphasised at again.
"Alryt" Emily nodded her head like she always does right before she forgets what she is been told, Eva looked in her eyes sitting opposite to her and stealing her bowl. Emily dropped her spoon and raised her hands in air "It won't happen again, I promised, I remembered." Emily plastered and slick smile, Eva smiled in return "You better, Or else I will kick you out personally not Gwen"
Emily scrunched her nose at the mention of her favourite person, speaking of devil Gwen entered from her room walking in her six inch red Louis Vuitton prepped up in her slick power black suit with her blonde hair secured in high pony tail, she walked with so much style and grace it leaves people behind her to give her more than one look.
Eva looked at her rather simple outfit even tho she had a huge meeting ahead a blue denim with white shirt over thrown by a peach cardigan paired with black boots. She payed attention to her dark brunette hair spilled in every direction, she calmly combed them one side of her shoulder.
Eva loved Gwen as her own but she cant help the disappointment she felt when she look at Gwen, she is everything her father desired in his single child. Strong, Independent, Smart, A dedicated business associate in her own fathers company. Gwen met Eva in college they had same majors, business economics and instantly had a bonding Eva usually complained about long and drowsy lectures while Gwen cooped up with Eva's whining and studies.
"What's for the breakfast?" Gwen asked while taking a seat next to Eva
"Fried eggs, French toast, pancakes, maple syrup, bacon and Mmmm let me think more"Emily closed one of her eye pouting her lips in hard concentration, Eva snickered and added "Donuts?"Emily opened her eye and gasped at Eva.
"But Eva its a sin to eat a Donut in breakfast" Emily shook her head in mock distaste.
Eva laughed at Emily taking her mug for another refill Emily slapped her hand away from the coffee pot and instead filled Gwen's cup.
"Why don't you eat something from the lavish breakfast first" Emily pointed their empty table with only cereal box and milk on it beside there coffee pot.
"I don't know why I even bother" Gwen squinted her eyes at Emily and took her first sip of the cup.
"For the thrill" Emily butted in with a toothy smile.
"You were late again, working overtime?" Gwen raised her eyebrows at Emily
"Yeah. They are launching another game this month for Halloween, working my ass off" Emily grunted.
"But you love your Psycho boss and job" Eva intrude with a smirk.
"That I do" Emily exhale a sad sigh, she worked under game programming company, with an tight schedule and even tight-ass boss who is unnecessary mean and too much of a geek.
Gwen filed her bowl with cereal and gave Eva a side glance, Eva was lost in her Emily post soaked cereal, she nugged Eva with her elbow.
Eva looked back at her with a raised eyebrow, "You okay? You seem lost than usual" Gwen asked
"All's fine"Eva smiled back
"She had this big meeting with his hot shot publisher finally" Emily winked at Eva
Eva groaned rolling her eyes "How do you know he is a hot shot publisher?" Eva asked Emily thining her lips
"Aaa... I goggled him, DUH" Emily snorted with Gwen beside.
''You have an meeting today? What's his name?" Gwen asked Eva turning at her with glint in her eyes.
"Adam, Adam Miller" Eva spoke softly playing with her fingers, a nervous habit of her, Gwen took her hand in her and smiled brightly with her red hot lipstick, Eva licked her lips she wont dare wear a red smoking hot colour on her lips they were too thin.
"Eva that's Brilliant, Miller is an successful Publisher, you are in good hands." Gwen squeezed her hand in support.
"Plus he is smoking hot" Emily commented pouting at Eva.
Eva gave her a flat look, she never understood Emily weird standard of beauty, she found any one and anybody "smoking hot" ,she had a giant heart oozed with love for everything.
Eva bit her lip in response she knew about Adam Miller and how he was a great deal for a debutant writer as her, what she feared was a sympathy gaze and a watery smile with a better try next time look to summon up, she also knew her novel was eye catching but she no longer had the confidence to face one more or probably last rejection, her time was up, she had passed one year of worthless time.
