"Do you write poetry? Or a poem half or two?" Adam asked evasively
Eva thought before answering his sudden out of the blue question, her shaped eyebrows marrying in unison.
"I believe I never have Mister Miller" Eva answered bewildered.
Adam bit inside of his lips, dam. He had a one single thought, poetry, emotions, emotions, feelings, feeling, love. Hence his love story. Bingo.
"Never a piece that would totally rhyme, I mean that's easy" Adam presided with a small shrug.
Eva eyed him intended eye to eye, trying to figure out his interest in poetry all of sudden.
"Not even a single line" Eva smiled dismissing his next in line question.
"What are your thoughts on urban poetry" Adam asked again.
"Look, Mister Miller no offense, but I don't do poetry, and I do not write a verse or two or even a word which shapes poetry" Eva quoted her fingers in air being slightly irritated at his imposing questions.
"Shame, I see in your work you can define emotions very well, perhaps the thought of poetry" Adam tried to shift the weight of emotions into an idea.
"Emotions are needed to write, they are crucial part of it, you need to quite connect with them" Eva explained.
"And I experienced them in your characters, the motives and feelings behind their acts made sense to me at the end, tho they were jumbled all along" Adam said with constructive criticism.
Eva felt a pinch of drop in her belly with an honest review, she knew she needed a lot of work with her manuscript and she was here to hear it all for the one hundredth time for real.
"I am open to pointers, feel free to deduct them" Eva said with a tight smile which dint reach her beautiful eyes this time.
"I am very happy with your positive response, it's only our duty to guide young talents like you" Adam said with genuine appreciation, usually authors makes sore faces and sulk in their seats or become too nervous to utter a single syllable.
"So you did read till the end?" Eva asked timidly, none of her previous publishers made it till end, they were too tired circling around the webs of mystery eventually giving up on her novel.
"Till the last line." Adam answered in heartbeat.
If she could scream right there standing on the table right Infront of Adam Miller till her throat scratch dry she would have. swear to god, but instead she felt quite emotional to the contrary, Eva could feel moist in her eyes and a bulk forming in throat. Quickly before Adam could read on her easily readily face, she blinked once and collected her herself.
"Do you think it doesn't need to end that way?" Eva asked Adam gaining confidence in her strength.
"The end is perfect Miss Martin, we do not need to touch that part but the chapters before needs trimming I am afraid the audience will lose the touch" Adam said.
Eva gave a swift nod and started building drafts thinking and redoing.
"We have plenty of time for time, we are interested to work with you" Adam said truthfully.
"Oh" that's all Eva was able to contribute for his statement. Too shocked on to hearing those words her brain didn't processed the meaning behind it they were ready to work with her.
Adam gave her a confused look, she only said "oh" in response, either she did not understand or she is a girl with attitude.
"Miss Martin, are you engaged with other houses as well?" Adam asked curiously
Eva shook her head in denial why is he asking her that. She have been rejected as many times she can count when she received an email from HM publishing house she pinched herself for the reality check and now Adam is proposing a deal, she isn't still daydreaming right.
Adam gazed plainly at Eva asking for more clarification with an raised eyebrow and a frown for her silent remarks.
"No, no I am not a tol tied up with any other particular publishers" Eva said finally catching up with her reality with deep breath.
"Excellent, as if now we clear with eachother basic grounds." Adam halted trying not to delay more part of his deal.
Eva listened attentively smiling ear to ear with contempt joy.
"I have a deal for you Miss Martin, a deal I am sure you wouldn't mind, it's an opportunity I am willing to offer" Adam said with no hesitation standing from his seat and walking around his desk Eva's eyes following his steps and her mind following his words.
"This is your first novel, you are basically" Adam stopped thinking for a better word
Eva narrowed her eyes 'a baby, newbie, a learner, oh better yet beginner, debutante, novice she kept filling the space.
"Beginner, you will have a lot of opportunities ahead, no doubt but you being launch with HM publishing will skyrocket your career" Adam said smugly.
Eva maintained her features neutral what ever crap he is speaking is truth but he doesn't need to be obvious, jerk.
"I understand, what is the deal of many opportunities you are taking about so foundly Mister Miller?" Eva asked curtly.
"I am going to publish your novel in return you need to write me another" Adam said plainly taking a seat on the edge of his desk near Eva's chair folding his hands neatly at his chest scrutinizing Eva's face closely.
Eva's eyes winded with pleasant surprise, not only one but two novels in one go? This is indeed an good opportunity for her, it can boost up her dying career in one single yes. She glanced at Adam making sure he isn't cracking up any jokes.
Adam was staring dead straight at her, their eyes met for a brief moment, Eva searched his face and his fave looked like an carved stone, with no expression what so ever.
"Another book?" Eva asked.
"Another one" Adam replies.
"Okay, but what about this novel?" Eva asked excited unable to keep it out of her tone.
"Will be published as soon as you finished with another novel" Adam said easily.
"Just to be clear you want a sequel for it? Or a prequel?" Eva eyes turned sharp with glee.
Adam liked the way they shine in light, " No, not a sequel or a prequel, a different story"
"Okay, but I need time, their is so much to think, I have a lot of other stories stored back at home, I can start reviewing them ASAP" Eva squeal a little.
Adam smiled at her, she is just thrilled he is used to with kind of reactions.
"I want a different concept Miss Martin" Adam said.
"Oh, like a new story? Sure I can make that work, I have lot of ideas" Eva was cut in middle of her sentence.
"Different concept in different Genre" Adam invaded in middle.
Eva gave her a lost look "different Genre? I write thriller/mystery"
"That's your specialty, you are too young to bound your flow" Adam said smartly.
Eva frowned at his deceptive tone "What Genre Mister Miller?" Her voice lost all her charm.
"Romance, just a silly little love story" Adam said with a straight face following the fakest smile she had ever seen.
