"Close the door Tim" Adam barked at his partner.
Tim Whistled at Adam's flaring temper and walked in his office softly closing the door behind.
"You look fancy today" Tim smiled with blinding smile at Adam and Adam gave him his best detestable smile in return.
"Absolutely peach" Adam threw his pen with which he was marking few notes in his file.
"What can I do for you then?" Tim laid back in his seat and glower at his partner.
"I have seen the reports today Tim, it's no good news. we are sinking in one department completely" Adam came to the point like he prefers rather than beating around the bush.
"Which is?" Tim asked throwing his hand back at his head gazing at Adam already knowing the answer he checked himself the reports and was controlling his smirk all the way, god help him.
Adam exhaled a deep breath and rubbed his hands on his face in pain and sorrow, he then massaged his neck in great displeasure with misery on his face he replied "Romance" as though the word itself is a plague which would infect him and his precious office.
Tim simply nodded at Adam's response he was dying inside from mirth, he knew the idea or word romance unleash the beast inside Adam he disliked the word love more than anything and that is the reason they were doing so bad in Romance Genre tho being a leading publishing house they were lacking behind in providing the world a simple yet most popular choice of reads. "Romance"
"I see, so what did you propose?" Tim staged the question wisely.
Adam was staring straight at him with his intense and sharp glaze cutting Tim's head in half virtually he wasn't looking at him a tol he was lost, lost for an answer.
"When did we publish our last Romance novel and which was a huge hit? Adam asked suddenly blinking his amber eyes and now really looking at Tim.
Tim was prepared with all his query he replied effective immediately "2014"
"Four years back.!" Adam said sharply unable to hide his surprise.
"Yes, precisely four years" Tim answered cheekily.
"If we could over run four years without romantic nuisance why would we need it now" Adam questioned with an conceited tone.
"Because we are one of the finest publishing house and we did provide a great amount of work" Tim replied simply.
Adam gave him a genuine smile this time and added "with worthy content"
"With worthy content of course" Tim agreed wholeheartedly.
"So why now?" Adam face hardened by the fact that finest publishing house or not they still needed one genre to stay at top of the ladder.
"You know the answer Adam, because we need it, we had ignored and closed all the romantic writers pass in and out for years now, romance is a big portion, it's cover a chuck load of readers males or females, young or adult it is a popular Genre, honestly I don't know how we were able to ignore it and still make it for four years." Tim broke his leisure stands and met Adam hard glaze.
Adam diverted his eyes and turned his chair to look at the Manhattan skyscraper and all the beautiful city behind, his eyes searching and not resting at anything particular, he thought he successfully left behind all the sappy love and it's all fake drama behind he was so ready to beat romance at its game that he nearly won, nearly not completely.
Adam kicked the empty trash can near his feet and cursed in several languages at once. When he turned back at Tim , Tim was very much seated at his seat and was waiting for his calm composure.
"I will contact the writers and some of the agency's we kept having calls in time and again" Tim said.
Adam nodded at his decision "keep me updated about the situation."
"Will do" Tim replied, and went for the door, before he was out of the office he turned his back at Adam and said "we just need one book for now then we can put romance on hold for eight years may be" Tim joked.
Adam cracked a short laugh at Tim "keep me updated"
After four hours of knee deep work Adam glanced at door and Tim came back circling around his office with a provoked expression.
Adam raised his eyebrows and closed his file awaiting for Tim, who was still talking at phone outside his office, he gave Adam an patient look and hang up his phone.
"Anything good?" Adam asked.
"It's worse than I imagined" Tim slouched at his previous occupied seat.
"How bad" Adam hold back his breath.
"It's a fucking nightmare, can you remind me how awful you were cauz honestly I can't remember how rude you were to all these agencies" Tim snarled at Adam.
Adam gulped and blinked innocently at Tim oh he remembered he remembered well how harshly and how demeaning he was to all the agencies who offered him any romantic writes.
"I don't know man, it's been long" Adam played along and gave his attention to his desktop resuming his work.
"Oh I would love to remind you or better play you all the calls I have been taking for past four horrible hours" Tim shouted at Adam in one short breath.
Adam was taken back and cleared his throat " It can be that worst, we are HM publishing we are best. No one turns best down Tim "
"We are best and we have been turned down for." Tim phone buzzed and he checked his phone and continued "for 49th time"
"Since this morning, they all are open and welcome to work with us with every other Genre expect surprise surprise "romance" he quoted in mid air.
"It's there loss, we can fish any desperate writer who's surprise surprise passion is "romance" genre. It's really not that difficult." Adam smirked
Tim glared at him with hot fresh hate his inflexibility and vex behaviour made him tenfolds more annoying.
"Why don't you talk to the agency's and let me know." Tim replied calmly.
Adam was uncertain with his choice of words he can make the situation worse but he need to make Tim go away and he also need him to stop looking at him as though he would eat him alive.
If he could stay charming and collected like he says is in his head may be he can crack a good established writer.
"I will" Adam replied smugly.
