"A love story?" Eva cried out loud

"A love story" Adam replied calmly.

"I don't do love stories, I do not write romance Mister Miller" Eva laughed humouressly.

"I understand that Miss Martin, but I need you to write me one" Adam laughed back only without humour.

Eva gave him a strange look, did he trip or something. How can he even ask me to write a love story, the mere thought made Eva hysterical.

"I am sorry Mister Miller, I can't, I can not write you a love story" Eva tried saying without falling into another fist of laughter.

Adam's composure started to slip again, he can understand her denial but her laughing ringing bells were annoying sound of another failure, he knew she wasn't laughing at him,  but the situation was trapping him like hard vice around his neck, he seems unable to break free from its clutches.

"Then thank you for your valuable time Miss Martin" Adam said abruptly with a 360 degree change in his demeanor.

Eva blinked in shock, he can't be serious.

"You are rejecting me just because I don't want to write you a love story?" Eva asked still confused.

"Yes, that's a part of a deal. You write me a book I publish your both novels." Adam said walking back to his chair needing his space back.

"That's not fair, I don't write romance, I can write you another mystery" Eva said anxiously trying to make it work.

"I do not want another mystery Miss Martin, I need a love story, and that's it" Adam spoke with finality making Eva more stunned.

"Did you even think my novel is worth any? Or you just called me for your imbecile deal? Eva asked fiercely. Feeling betrayed.

"Look Miss Martin no hard feelings, I'm in a bit situation, if you could work out with my terms then we could talk further on it" Adam said giving his attention back to his desktop.

Eva sat silently for a moment, she knew it this was too good to be true,  cursing her rotten luck and lack of romance or idea of love she gathered her strength to leave Adam Miller jackass office.

"Adam you need to see this buddy" Tim entered Adam's office without a knock.

"I am in a meeting Tim" Adam said dryly

"No, you can go ahead. I was leaving, nice meeting you Mister Miller" Eva said and stood.

Adam looked back and forth between Eva and Tim he couldn't believe he can't even convince a rooky writer to write a bloody love story, what is this grudge universe is holding against him when he is the only one who deserves to hold a grudge against it.

"Nice meeting you as well Miss Martin" Adam said shortly, going absolutely maniac inside.

Eva passed this Tim guy and walked out of her final chance, tears of successfully ruining her writing dreams rolled down her cheeks and she didn't bother hiding them, she let it follow them freely, showing world that not all dreams are meant to come true.

She walked down HM publishing house with sagged shoulders and flushed face, taking her phone out she read notification bar, two missed calls from Emily and three from her Gwen, text with best of luck and break a leg wishes with zillion emojis of Emily.

Few other apps noti and a reminder of passing agreement, with a single missed day call of her father.

Seeing all the messages Eva wanted to run back and accept Adam's offer.

But she held her head high at least she doesn't commit to things she can't fulfill. With more deep sighs she reached the elevator and pressed ground floor button.

Adam strolled in his office upset and furious. Tim exactly dint bring him Christmas present, he walked in with only more bad news.

The hunt they did for past few days did not bring them luck but only ignite the flames into fire. Word was out that HM publishing is in witch hunt for romance dreadful writers.

They mocked them earlier now the tables are turned.

"I did absolutely nothing in this, this is all your fault" Tim said gravely.

"You called first, it wasn't me who acted first" Adam fought back.

"Only on your instructions, Adam if the press got a wind of it, we are doomed" Tim said pinching his nose.

"That's all I need, bad publicity" Adam grinned his teeth.

"What about your plan? You said it would work out" Tim inquired.

"It failed, like this whole tardy situation" Adam said sulking.

"Was that girl your plan?" Tim asked him

"Yes, but apparently she doesn't write romance, smart girl" Adam snarled smiling bitterly.

"Are you sure?" Tim asked.

"Yeah, she laughed on my face like I cracked a joke of her lifetime, why do you ask?" Adam said impatiently.

"Because I saw her crying, while she walked out" Tim said intrigued.

"She must be drying her laughter tears, thinking me as of best stand up comedian" Adam said dryly.

"I don't think so, she seemed heartbroken, like you crushed her dreams, what did you say?" Tim narrowed his judgemental eyes.

"What did I say? I offered her a deal of her life, she laughed on it and asked me to sleep on it" Adam retord back.

"She also seemed desperate, why can't you read something like that Adam, you didn't persuade her properly" Tim glared at Adam, making him think twice about their conversation.

"Adam, here is the deal I am giving you, you need to run and grab that opportunity, before the word leaks and we are in headlines for wrong reasons, either way we are going to be in headlines tomorrow, now it's in your hands in which side you land us on" Tim said making his way out, and leaving Adam more desperate than ever before.
