It had been a good half hour since we had started off from our 'spawn' area and surprisingly, we hadn't run into anything that posed as a threat. I was convinced that since this world was so much like a video game, there would be monsters or wild beasts or something like that. My scythe was starting to become very heavy and I kept switching the shoulder it was on.
I had also found out that Reccer can only talk to me when I have the status window open, which was a bit inconvenient since having it open while I traveled was limiting my movements so I had to rely on the feelings that I sensed from them.
"Uhg, this thing is so heavy!" I put the tip on the ground and leaned against it in exasperation. I felt a pull from Reccer and I opened the status window. "What's up Reccer?" there was a pause.
"A few things, but I'll start by telling you that once we find a storage bag or container with space magic inside, you can store whatever you pick up as long as it doesn't exceed the limitations set by the caster."
"Now that's handy, it would be like having an inventory." this made sense to me.
"The other thing I wanted to tell you is that we are in close proximity to other beings. They seem to be adventurers."
"Really? I wonder if we should approach them." I wanted to see what other people were like here, but I still felt like I wanted nothing more than to stay in the shadows and not draw attention to myself.
"I believe it would be wise for you to get directions to the nearest settlement so that you can learn how Helmis works." It was a fair point, but I really didn't want to approach them and the more I thought about it the more I just wanted to melt away.
"But I have you to tell me how this world works." I nearly pouted, but I suppressed it.
"Elm, I can only tell you so much. You should learn to live in this world and learn all about it, then you can explore and be whoever you chose to be." I liked the sound of that and I was starting to be convinced when three people stepped out from the bushes and I locked eyes with one of them. They were female and her eyes were a piercing green with animalistic intensity, but she was not a human, she was a cat humanoid with a long fluffy tan tail that looked to be dry brushed with black markings. Her cat ears and hair were the same way, she was quite stunning and very strong looking. She had scars that coated her body from battles previous and a soft but intense face.
"Who are you?" She asked in a dialogue I didn't understand. I only shook my head.
"I'm sorry, I don't speak your language." The cat looked at the other two behind her who I now saw were of the same species. There was another female that looked to be a hybrid of a short-haired black cat with piercing yellow eyes and the other was a tabby male that had soft brown eyes. The tabby stepped forward.
"Hello, adventurer. What is your business in these woods with a weapon like that?" his dialogue was pretty awful, but I understood him none the less.
"I'm a bit lost since this area is unfamiliar to me. As for my weapon, I recently received it, though I have no way of storing it." I spoke the truth, but left out the part about being reincarnated, it didn't feel right. The tabby turned and translated for the two other cat hybrids and they talked among themselves for a while before the tabby turned back to me.
"We have a spare storage bag that we are willing to give to you on one condition." I raised my eyebrow and Reccer tensed.
"And that would be. . ." I inquired for him to continue.
"We ask of you to join our little crew, for a person to acquire a weapon of that caliber must be strong." I didn't know what to say, and apparently, neither did Reccer.
"Uh, thanks." I was not used to getting compliments from strangers.
"Well? What'll it be?" I looked down at my status window in thought.
"I wouldn't mind joining up with you, the only problem being, I don't understand your language." perhaps this will drive them away, I need a storage unit, but I didn't know how I felt about joining three cat people who I just met right after reincarnating.
The tabby brought his fingers to his chin in thought.
"I believe that we have something that could aid in your learning our language." he turned to the others and discussed something that I could only guess had to do with me learning their language. The black cat seemed to be nervous, but the other two were encouraging them. While they were talking I ran over my status window again to see if I missed anything from before.

My eyes immediately caught my class, I was a Grim Reaper class? What does that mean? I kinda like the sound of it though. It appeared that Reccer had spotted it as well and was slightly scared. I wanted to ask them why they were scared when the tabby called my attention back to him.
"I apologize for the wait, but this will enable you to learn not only our language but also many others after exposure to them." that sounded awesome, but, why were they willing to give this amulet to me?
"Surely you jest, that seems quite valuable, to enable the wearer to learn all the languages just because they were exposed to them?" the tabby seemed a bit taken aback.
"This amulet, though valuable and would fetch a high price in any market, can't be used by us beastmen, or any other race that is not a human. As you are a human, you have more use for it than us." I looked at the amulet, it had an oddity to it that was drawing me in, just like the scythe, it brought a sense of new beginning.
"Alright, I much appreciate this." I reached my hand out for the blue teardrop amulet on a thin silver wire. I took it and clipped it around my neck, the clasp then disappeared and the wire shrunk to a chocker. It didn't hurt, it just surprised me and the beastmen as they didn't expect that either.
"My goodness! I don't think that was a regular Rosetta amulet, I've never seen one act that way before!" I looked up at the new voice that I could understand and I found that the tan cat beastmen had spoken and I could understand her.
"I can understand you now, that's incredible." the tan cat looked at me.
"And you can speak beastmen." the three were staring at me and I didn't like this attention.
"Please stop staring, it makes me uncomfortable." Reccer was excited about something and was having a hard time holding back.
"Elm! Elm! You just required an SS item called the Translation Stone!" I was shocked, to say the least, why would beastmen, or anyone, have an SS item like this and just simply give it away to some stranger.
"It's an SS item?" I said subconsciously aloud, the beastmen looked at me with weird stares, the tabby having his jaw on the ground.
"What do you mean it's an SS item?" The black cat was now shifting uncomfortably, it seemed that she was upset that she agreed to give up such a precious item. They must not have heard Reccer's voice, which was good to know.
