I leaned on my scythe and took a good look at it. I hadn't noticed how elegant it looked, it was simple in shape, but the dark silver ring floated off the snath and it acted as the heel with elegant spiraling pieces of metal that attached to the beard that had a smooth top and a three ridged bottom. The chine really stuck out as it contrasted with its ebony wood to the dark silver blade. The snath wasn't something to sneeze at either, for it consisted of smooth live edge ebony with two floating grips of ebony as well. The grips seemed to just freely float around the scythe, but as I went to grab them they zoomed to their rightful position and I hoisted the scythe to the side and sliced it through the tall grass and brush, it cut through it as if nothing was there. I rested the bottom of the snath on the ground and marveled at my new weapon, the grips had started to freely float around as soon as I released them. I was impressed, to say the least.
I smiled, I was free, free to do what I wished. I picked up my scythe and rested the end on my shoulder and looked around the trees again.
"Which way should I go? I guess it doesn't matter, but I feel I may miss something if I go just one direction." Since when did I talk to myself? I liked it, it felt like I was finally able to just let go. I couldn't help going over what Reccer had told me, they said something about a status screen?
"Status." I was surprised to see that a window pop up in front of me.
"Hello, Elm Agrippa, I see you have started to become accustomed to your scythe." I did a glance around but saw no one.
"Hi, Reccer, where are you? I know you said you didn't have a form, but you have to be somewhere right?" there was a pause.
"I don't know, I am simply here. I have no other explanation I apologize." I furrowed my eyebrows.
"So are you bound to me for the rest of my existence?"
"Yes, Elm Agrippa, I am your personal helper in the world of Helmis."
"What will happen to you when I die?" there was a pause again.
"Elm Agrippa, you will not die. So what happens to me doesn't matter." I felt a bit of dread but also excitement from their words.
"What do you mean I will not die?" there was another pause.
"Because you are strong, and you will continue to get stronger." So Reccer has confidence in me, it felt so foreign, I was also a trifle disappointed that I wasn't immortal or something.
"But tell me, if I was to die, what would happen to you?" When did I get so attached to this non-existent being?
"I would simply disappear." I didn't know how to respond to that, so I just stood there like an idiot. "But I have confidence that I will not have to worry." there was a smile in their voice, how strange, for a personal helper, I would have assumed that there wouldn't be any emotion.
"Tell me Reccer, is it possible for you to gain a form?" there was a long silence before they even attempted to speak.
"I do not understand your question, Elm Agrippa." I didn't know how to explain it any other way.
"I mean, you currently don't have a form, but you are here, which means that you are an entity. Also, just call me Elm." there was a silence again, but I could feel their happiness.
"I will, Elm. But if I'm an entity, then, where am I?" I thought about this, I could feel the turmoil as they struggled to grasp that they were an entity.
"I think you are somewhere within me." I said slowly. I could feel them now that I was focusing on it.
"Really? Where am I?" They were excited, I could feel it, but it was everywhere, there was no concentration.
"I think you are another part of me, that's why I grew so attached to you, you are another me, but one that has been through different experiences than I." there was another pause as Reccer took this information in.
"I think I know what you mean." Their personality, it was getting stronger.
"It almost feels wrong."
"What does?" they were as confused as I was currently.
"It feels wrong that you are a different person and yet you have no body of your own, you are forced to share a body with someone that had already died." yeah this wasn't making any sense to me either, but I was just rolling with it.
"I don't know what to say to that." they admitted.
"I believe that you should have your own body, one that belongs to you and you alone. And I will make it my mission to get you one that is suitable." There was astonishment from Reccer and determination from me. "Now that's that settled, let's see what my. . .er. . .our(?) stats are."
"Yes! Let's do!" I looked down at the screen that was in front of me and ran down the list.

"Hm, most trublesome." Reccer seemed concurned.
"What is it?"
"It appears that you have both the titles [Ascended] and [Fallen] which separate can make a person very strong, and the titles are almost unheard of. But together, they work against each other, they nullify each other, but their effects will put you do a huge disadvantage while fighting." I stared at the titles.
"But why do I have them?" Reccer was troubled by this too.
"I don't know, you were just reincarnated, there is no way you have either fallen or ascended yet." I scratched the back of my neck.
"I can't tell ya anything, the last thing I remember is being hit by a car." If what Reccer was saying was true, then none of my stats would make sense. "Also why am I a Grim Reaper?"
"I believe that is because you chose the scythe."
"That still doesn't make any sense, the scythe wasn't even a part of my past life." Reccer seemed to be quite puzzled. "Perhaps we should try and figure this out some other time, I bet to more we explore the more we will learn about our situation. Do you know of any other Personal Helpers that have their own personalities?" Reccer thought for a bit.
"Not that I am aware, we are simply supposed to help the person we are assigned to."
"Well, this only adds to our mystery then doesn't it?" Reccer silently agreed and I closed the status window so we wouldn't puzzle over it too much more. "Well then, let's start exploring! We have a whole new life ahead of us!" man I have never expressed this much emotion before, I think I can get used to this.
