CHAPTER ZERO: PROLOGUE
I KNEW I WASN'T a normal kid and I didn't have a perfect life, but living in Chicago was better than nothing. I was living...the good life. Well, for now at least.
Living with an adoptive mother was easier than I expected and everyone here is...nice. It was nothing like Hawkins, Indiana. And I mean that in the best way possible.
For a nornal person, living in Hawkins might be a good thing. But for people like me, it was the worst place to be. Well, we didn't exactly have a choice to be there or not. We were forced to.
We didn't want the abilities that no other person possessed. We didn't want to be taken away from our parents at birth. We didn't want to be kept and raised in a lab and treated like a lab rat. We didn't want to be abnornmal.
Breaking out of the lab five years ago was hard. It took months to plan. I had to map out the entire building and figure out where each guard was at what time and place. When I did escape through, I made a great escape to Chicago, Illinois. And here I am now.
I am Subject 009, and this is my story.
