"Jane?" I called out into the darkness

"Jane?" I called out into the darkness. "Where are you?"

I walked around, making a splashing sound in the water that only reached my ankles.

"Jane, where are y-"

"Mike, what's your haul?" a voice said. It sounded muffled as if it were coming from his supercom of some sort.

"Sh-shit! I don't know yet!" another voice said, which was awfully close by.

I turned around to see that boy again. The one that took care of my sister last year. The one that's been calling her for almost a whole year.

The two boys talked to each other through the supercom and soon enough, the dark-haired boy ran up some stairs, disappearing into thin air.

That's when I felt it: the warm, salty tears roll down my cheeks, only because I've been trying to do the same exact thing as him. I've been trying to communicate with Jane. But not for almost a year, but for a hole four years.

I heard a faint voice in the distance. "Lily! Come down stairs please!"

I took the blindfold off of my face and shoved it under my pillow. I wiped my tears to try to hide the fact that I had been crying.

I found Miss Easten sitting on the living room couch smiling from ear. "I have great news," she said.

She patted her hand next to her, motioning me to sit down beside her.

"So," she started, "I've been keeping quiet for a while now and I think it's time to tell you." She place her hand gently on my knee. "We're moving!"

I was a bit angry that she never told me about this but I didn't make a big deal about it. "Where to, Miss Easten?"

"I didn't know where to go at first, but a friend of mine said that there's a house for sale on her block in Hawkins, Indiana. It's perfect!"

At that moment, my life slowly started crumbling into pieces. Out of all places she had to choose Hawkins? It's not that I wanted to go back there, it's that I couldn't. To a normal human being, it was an... 'okay' place to live. But to people like me, it's the worst place to be at all times. After seeing what happens behind the scenes, you would never want to return there ever again.

I didn't blame her for wanting to go to Hawkins. I mean, she didn't know anything about my dark past and didn't know I was from there.

"We're gonna start packing first thing in the morning and you're not going back to school. So go get some rest. We've got a long day tomorrow."

She placed her hands in mine and her expression softened. "And for the last time, sweetheart. Call me mom."

I gave her my best smile before heading off to my room. Before I drifted to sleep, one thing lingered in my head wouldn't go away...

Will I ever find her?
