THIS CHAPTER IS A DREAM / MEMORY TSUKI HAS DURING HER NIGHT WITH HER SISTER AND HER FRIENDS.
This is not very relevant to the story.
/// The Vampires of Edinburgh ///
I see Captain Meliodas sitting with Ban. They're both sitting across from a demon-looking substance.
"Mel, what is that?" I look at my blonde haired boyfriend. King is floating next to me.
"It's a meat pie, poundcake! Do you want some?" He asks sweetly. The "pie" squirms around.
"Why is it moving?" I jump away and I can feel my tail frizz up.
"I might not have baked it long enough..." He smiles at me.
"That's not the problem here!" King scolds him.
"One thing led to another and we decided the loser has to treat the winner to a meal. I lost the bet, so I made it." Meliodas says happily, smiling at Ban. He grabs the plate and holds it up. It writhes around.
"Come on, eat up! It's not like you'll die of food poisoning!" Meliodas says too cheerfully.
"NO NO NO! I'LL DIE!!" Ban screeches.
"What are you talking about? You're immortal! Don't waste food." Meliodas laughs.
"IT REEKS! IT'S DISGUSTING! IT'S GOING TO KILL ME!!" He yells again.
I really wonder what's in that pie...
"WHY IS THE WINNER OF THE BET THE ONE WHO HAS TO PLAY THE PUNISHMENT GAME?! HEY, MERLIN! SAY SOMETHING!" Ban yells at Merlin, who's behind me.
"Hm...I have a great idea." She smiles.
///
I'm currently in a meeting with Holy Knights Hendrickson, Dreyfus and Zaratras.
"Well well well. Our enemy this time is a clan of revived vampires. Merlin, tell us everything you know." Zaratras orders.
"From what we can sense, there are five beings with great power, not counting the Vampire King." Merlin begins.
"We can assume that all of Edinburgh's Holy Knights were turned into vampires, correct?" Zaratras interrupts.
"Yes." Merlin nods.
"What if we assemble a large army of Holy Knights and send them to battle?" Dreyfus offers.
"But if we sustain casualties, we'd no doubt fall into panic...Going in with a large force would actually put us at a disadvantage." Hendrickson thinks aloud.
"On top of that, the power level of vampires increases more than twofold at night." Merlin adds.
"Twofold? That's crazy..." I mumble.
How could that be?
"Then why don't we charge in broad daylight?" Meliodas speaks up.
"We can't. Take a look at this, this is Edinburgh through my crystal..." Merlin begins.
It's almost completely dark. I can sort of make out the shapes because I'm like a cat, but it's a little troublesome.
"It's so dark you can't even see anything!" King exclaims.
"It seems the Vampire King has covered it in darkness, regardless of the time of day." Merlin explains. "And if you take a closer look...because of some great power, even space has been warped to a state where I can't use teleportation spells." She continues.
Hmm..It kinda looks like Mel's "meat pie".
"It looks just like Captain's meat pie..." King trails off.
"That's just what I was thinking!" I nod.
"Ban got away from it too." Mel scowls.
"By the way, where is Sir Ban?" Hendrickson asks me.
"Good question." I say.
"It looks like this is going to become a serious matter, brother." Dreyfus says to Zaratras.
"So in other words, the Vampires will always retaliate with twice the power no matter what we do..." Zaratras replies.
"And it goes without saying that the Vampire King will have a power level even greater still." Merlin adds.
"That's why I want all the Eight Deadly Sins to participate in this mission. Meanwhile Dreyfus, Hendrickson and I will guard Liones along with the rest of the kingdom's Holy Knights." Zaratras orders.
"All of us? So him, too?" I look at Mel, thinking of the seventh sin, The Lion's Sin of Pride Escanor.
"Merlin...What time is it?" Mel asks.
"Just before midnight." She answers.
"Alright! Perfect timing!" He jumps up. "Merlin! King! Take Gowther and Diane and head to Edinburgh first. Tsuki will come with me." He orders.
"Wait a second Captain!! We don't even know what we're up against! Isn't it too reckless for all of us to just charge in separately without any kind of strategy?!" King shouts.
"That's true, but we're pressed for time. It would be better to at least come up with a strategy." Hendrickson nods.
"But that is the strategy. Boys, if we don't know what we're up against, they don't know what they're up against either!" He exclaims.
"Sounds just like you, Mel." I laugh quietly.
"The Eight Deadly Sins' greatest strength is its utter lack of teamwork!" He explains.
He actually said it out loud...!
"Alright! Let's get this show started!! You know the strategy!! We're all going to come back alive!!" He claps.
///
We've got Escanor. Ugh, I hate this guy.
"As always...Your sacred treasure...Is way too heavy." Mel struggles.
"Sorry for inconveniencing you, Captain." He says.
"Nah, it's alright." Mel shakes his head.
"By the way, Edinburgh is pretty far. If it's at all possible, I'd like to be back by morning..." Escanor says.
"Merlin made a gate that opens right next to it." I reply.
"Oh no! Mer...Merlin did that just for me!?" He exclaims.
"No, no, it's for all of us." Mel says. "Alright, you're up Escanor!" Meliodas smiles.
"I...I'll do my best!" He smiles. Escanor is a skinny weak looking blonde guy with baggy armor.
This is going to be interesting.
