Chapter 7
Lacey's POV
"What are we doing here?" I asked Matt as we got out of the car. I never thought I would come here again. Especially not with Matt considering I thought I was never going to see him again.
"Do you like it? We can go somewhere else if you want I just thought you wanted to-" Matt said freaking out which I thought was cute.
"Matt, I love it. I haven't even been here since you left." I reassured him.
"Really? I thought you would've come here all the time since I left."
"No, but I love what you did to it. I don't think you could've decorated our treehouse like this when we were younger." I joked.
"Probably not." he laughed as he took my hand and we walked over to the treehouse.
When Matt and I were seven we would always play in one of our house because we both had small backyards and it would dive our parents crazy. So my mom decided to build a treehouse for us in an open field near our houses so we could play and be out of their hair. It was the perfect treehouse for us, everyday after school we would go to the treehouse for hours before we went home. When my mom died 5 years later I stopped going with Matt to our treehouse for a couple of weeks because I couldn't face the treehouse without thinking about my mom. Eventually Matt helped me slowly go back to the treehouse and I didn't get as sad when I saw stuff that reminded me of her. If it weren't for him I would probably never would've gotten over her accident.
The last time I saw the treehouse it looked like a huge wooden box with a door and a rail along all four sides, now it looked totally different. There are fairy lights (Christmas lights) all around the ladder and the treehouse, and when we get inside the treehouse there are blankets, pillows, a pizza box, and a computer which I'm guessing had a movie in it on one side and the other side had a box with plates on it and a chair on opposite sides of it. It looked amazing! I can't believe Matt did all of this for me! Maybe he did like me...
"Do you like it?" Matt asked as I sat down on one of the chairs and he got the pizza box.
"I love it! I can't believe you did all of this, for me." I blushed as he gave me a slice and gave himself a slice.
"Well I'm glad you love. It took me hours to put all if those light on because they kept going out so I had to replace them."
"Really? How many did you have to replace?" I laughed.
"At least 20." Matt said as I kept laughing.
Between the two of us we finished a whole pie of pizza. While we ate we talked about the stupidest, most random stuff anyone could think of and it was amazing.
"So you're saying that right now I could just bite my finger off like a carrot?" I laughed.
"Yea, but your brain doesn't let you because you know it's going to hurt." Matt laughed.
"That's crazy! Now I really want to bite my finger off." I said staring at my fingers.
"Don't do it! If you don't have fingers then I can't hold your hand..." Matt said as he looked down at his lap.
Matt's POV
Shit. Why did I say that, she probably doesn't even like me like that and now I made an idiot of myself. Tonight was going great until I screwed it up.
"Matt? What's wrong?" I looked up and say Lacey looking at me with concern in her eyes.
"Nothing. It's just that tonight was going great and then I was an idiot and screwed it up." I said feeling like the biggest idiot in the world.
