Kayla's pov the next day

We had been walking for about an hour now. Deep down I was shaking with how anxious I was. Soon I was going to be able to hold my babies again. I needed them. I craved them. I still couldn't believe I was back with my family. When I ran into that herd I was well aware that I would probably never see them again. Should've known better with the kind of father and husband I have. I laughed to myself at my thoughts. I stood in between daryl and Rick. Maggie, Glenn, and michonne behind us. Any minute now we should be at the highway. I was getting nervous. I felt something grab my hand.i looked down to see daryl entangling his fingers with mine. I looked back up at him and smiled. He gave me a small one back. He never smiled big or showed his soft side when we were with others. Hell to them he was still Mr. Badass and a rude redneck. Ha if they only knew. I liked knowing me and the kids were the only ones that could bring that man out. I then looked at Rick who was mainly focused on the trail. I could tell last nights events were still bothering him. No matter how much I tell him not to worry about it, he still does. He did what he had to do and saved me. I nudged him with my elbow. That brought him out of deep thought as he looked at me with an arched eyebrow. I smiled at him and he smiled back,

"Ya know the twins are going to be happy to see you."

I smiled widely,"I hope so."

He chuckled and daryl squeezed my hand. "I just hope Carl will come back" Rick sighed.

I looked at him and took a hold of his hand. He was surprised at first and then wrapped his hand around mine,

"Look he can't be too far gone. I won't stop till he's back"

He nodded and smiled. I smiled back,

"So dad ya never told me how did ya find us?"

He looked at me and then over to daryl. Daryl just starred back with the same questioning glance as I had. Rick sighed,

"A little girl. Joes daughter"

My breathing hitched and i heard daryl ask,"Taylor?"

I turned to him quickly. How the hell did he know her? He looked at me and then back to daryl as Rick said,

"Ya"

"Wait joe had a daughter?and you took her in? And she's there with the twins!" I asked worried.

Daryl turned me to face him,"ya she's like 16. Harmless. If I wouldn't have bumped into her I never would've gotten yer ring back or found ya."

"My ring?" I asked confused.

"Ya she found it and was Savin it for ya when ya got away from er dad." He said.

I still was skeptical and Rick said,"ya she also told us where we'd find you."

I was still very skeptical of this girl. More about how she will react when she finds out what happened to her dad. But she did help me get back to my family so I have to respect the girl. Plus she's only 16 and with everything joe did to me, I can only imagine what he's done to her.

"Surprised the girl made it" daryl grunted.

Rick chuckled,"ya she's real nice girl. She's scared"

"Who isn't" I grunted.

I felt daryl squeeze my hand and Rick sighed, "that's true. I think you two will get along just fine."

"Why?" I asked.

"She's just like you. Strong" Rick whispered but I cut him off,

"Ya but atleast my dad wasn't some psycho killer.." I paused when I felt him flinch..."neither of them"

I felt him relax and he sighed,"she isn't like him"

"She isn't, I wouldn't have told er where the group was I thought she was" daryl said.

I turned to look at him and sighed,"ok...but I don't want her by the twins until I talk to er"

Daryl nodded and Rick smiled as we all came to a stop. I looked to where his eyes landed and saw a two story White House. It kinda resembled Herschel's farm actually. I looked back to Rick and arched an eyebrow. He just smiled and pointed. I looked back and saw carol putting laundry on the line. My heart pounded. This was where the group was. This was where my babies were. Carol turned around do grab more clothes when she saw us. Her eyes widened and she immediately dropped her shirt she was holding and ran to us hugging me with so much force I almost fell over.

"Thank god" she whispered.

I smiled and felt tears reach my eyes as she let go of me and then nodded to daryl and Rick, I watched her welcome everyone back when I felt a tap on my shoulder. I looked to see daryl. He looked at me and then pointed towards the house. I turned back towards it and my body froze as tears started falling. Beth had the twins and Judith walking on the side of the house. There they were, my babies. I began to shake as I smiled. I looked back lovingly at daryl who smirked and brought his fingers to his mouth and whistled loudly. I looked back at the kids and saw their attention was now on us. Both of their eyes widened and they just stood there starring at us. It was like they were processing if we were real or not. That's when elaina broke out in tears,

"Mommy!"

Tears slid down my cheek as the twins took off in a sprint towards us. I started walking towards them to meet in the middle.

"Mom!" Connor cried.

After what felt like forever I bent down so when they ran I was at their height. They both came full force and grabbed onto me making me fall over. They squeezed so tight and cried into my body. I kissed both their heads repeatedly. I had them back where they belong. In my arms.

"I love you both so much" I cried.

I heard footsteps walk up behind me and I looked over to see daryl smirking. I wiped a tear from my cheek and mouthed "thank you" to him. He said nothing but held up his left hand and pointed at his ring. I felt butterflies in my stomach and just nodded as I held our shaking, crying children. They finally pulled away and I had a hand on one of eachs cheek.

"You came back" Elainas voice cracked.

I wiped my tears,"of course I did baby."

"We thought we were never gonna see you again" Connor whimpered.

"Hey..I'm here now and I'm not going anywhere ok?" I smiled.

They both nodded as more tears slid down their cheeks.

"My brave kids" I said and wrapped them Into another hug.

"What am I chopped liver?" Daryl smirked.

The kids immediately pulled out of the hug and saw daryl behind me. Their eyes widened again.

"Dad!" Connor yelled and ran up to him tackling him in a hug.

Daryl scooped him up and Elaina gripped onto my hand and just starred as Connor and daryl reunited. Why hadn't she ran to daryl?daryl looked over at elaina questioningly. He arched an eyebrow at me and I just shrugged. I looked back down at her and asked,

"Why don't you go see daddy?"

She looked back up at me and then back to daryl hesitantly. I smiled and squeezed her hand,

"I'll still be right here. I'm not going anywhere"

She smiled and then let go of my hand running to daryl. Daryl scooped her up too and kissed both of their foreheads as they hugged him tightly around the neck. I smiled at my family. We were all back together. That's when another scream made me jump.

"Connor! Elaina!"

I turned around and saw a figure with a brown sheriffs hat running full speed towards us with someone else in tow. I smirked and waited patiently.

"Connor! Elai.....!!" He stopped immediately when his eyes landed on me.
